My family hails from Poland so there were many tradition foods and such.

The things I most remember were a Christmas wafer Opłateki. Family members and friends break off a small piece of the Opłateik
wafer and give it to one another along with a blessing.

Another tradition is to leave an empty plate for an unexpected guest who might appear.

There were many foods, and big Christmas Eve (Wigilia) dinners. Placed on traditional table cloths and china.

I usually spend Christmas dinner at my brother in laws house.
We enjoy roast duck, pho bao, pho ga, thit nuong, com tam and spring rolls.
We also like to drink chanh muoi and xi muoi and a wine like Merlot.
For desert we like to have anything just as long it is french.
My sister in laws brother who is a chef at a fine restaurant in San Diego handles all of the cooking duties .
This way I know that dinner is always scrumptious.
Christmas dinner in a Vietnamese household goes on all day and well into the night because of the tradition of guests that are always coming and going, so there is always food at the ready combined with all of the chit chat and exchanging of presents.
