Holy cripes...

Finally got to take my new-to-me 2019 488 Spider out on Skyline Blvd south of Alice's at a suitably early hour this morning. (For those of you not familiar with the SF Bay Area, that's one of the most popular driver's roads around.)

My gosh, this beast goes like an over-caffeinated cheetah. I can very much feel the shape of the torque curve that Ferrari engineered (progressively making more torque available in higher gears). From 0-60 the car is very quick, but above that it gathers momentum like... Well, like nothing else I've ever driven, that's for sure.

I know that road quite well and I know the exact speeds I can take certain corners, when I'm in my 718 Cayman S, before the traction control light flickers. I was able to take most corners about 10 mph faster in the 488 (in Race mode) before the traction control light blinked.

And the sound of the intakes above 6000 rpm...I mean, I know the 458 sounds incredible and all, but to me the 488 sounds like a properly ferocious Ferrari. Just everything about this car, from the ludicrously sharp handling to the gorgeous styling to the cockpit ergonomics to the Italian leather aroma to the shockingly easy everyday driveability... I'm in love. I only wish I hadn't waited so long to get my first F-car.

WHAT A CAR. Even better than I'd hoped it would be.
