Let's talk home design. To kick it off, one of the major home design problems is cars. Once upon a time lots were big enough you could put a detached garage in the back where it wasn't noticeable. Those days are gone. To illustrate study these two pictures.

These two houses sit side-by-side. The second one has a swing in garage. The first faces the street. Notice how the swing in looks better, but what you can't see is how much of the front yard is a driveway. (I don't understand what the owner of the second house hopes to do with that "driveway."

Ps If your garage doors face the street, don't make it worse by painting it black with white trim.

 

Look at the first house again with the garage facing the street. This looks silly on a smaller home because the garage has to stay the same size. We call them baby pigs. Don't worry little pig, someday you'll grow up to match your nose.
