Thanks. It was a lot of work. I will put some more stuff up later. I got Mono and I am about ready to pass out again for 15 hours hopefully less but at least it's not 20 hours a day like it was last week. This **** is a *****.

Let me ask one question. If we have a Home Improvement/DIY forum, how many other forums do we need to have at the same level that would have similar participation?

We already have 80 or so forums. How many is too many or how many too few? What belongs in threads vs. its own forum?

You don't think a master DIY thread would be more active and appropriate than a single subforum?

I do see potential for a 'Real Estate' or 'Home & Garden' subforum in Ferrari Lifestyle category that DIY can be tacked on.

    You have my ear now.

I think a subforum to Lifestyle or Other Off Topic is appropriate. A master DIY thread wouldn't be user friendly given the wide variety of topics and the general desire of folks to highlight their questions/efforts by starting a thread.

Great idea! DIY forums are awesome for two reasons:

    1. The guys who think they know, but don't, try anyway and get themselves in trouble. Then, rather than contact an actual expert, they swallow their pride and hit the forum to post embarrassing pictures of how they bubba'd the toilet/appliance/cabinetry install and beg for help.

    2. The guys that help.

I am impressed. To do that damage with a round basket, which is probably molded from the softest plastic China can make, is just awesome.

Just think of the damage I can cause with our metal trash can! :D

Regarding the basket, the vertical ridges are surprisingly rigid especially at the bottom. It is much sturdier than the shorter round and rectangle baskets we also have. Wow, never thought I'd be discussing the quality of laundry baskets on a Ferrari site and let's not forget I mentioned the merits of Color Catchers in an earlier post...maybe we do have too many forums! :D

She points out the smallest imperfections in anything and says "ot-o.... daddy fix it."

Please recall my clothes basket meets wall incident of a few months ago.

Fast forward to yesterday...I'm walking down the hall and as I near the "fort" my 9 yr old son built outside his room a few days ago I happen to notice something...

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

what I thought was a creative play area was actually made to hide a 2" hole in the wall!

The fort builder immediately goes into denial, which puts the 11 yr old son & occasional accomplice in self-preservation mode and the younger do-badder takes verbal fire from all sides & sizes.

Eventually he cracks (no water-boarding required) and admits that while rolling skating (Christmas gift) he slipped, slid into the wall, and the toe stop went thru the wall. Thus, the nice almost round hole.

So, I get my second round of drywall repair practice...and really can't be too mad at him b/c my incident was far stupider. That said, my 9 yr old damages everything he touches; I guess he has a "double dose of Focker." :D :(

it just doesn't make sense for another subforum right now, create threads, if I see a ton of DIY threads then it deserves a forum. thanks.

I should have snapped a photo but I didn't... Over the last month I have been refinishing all the oak floors in my house. So I am running this huge orbital floor polisher between coats and this guy helping me must have thought it was an easy peice of equiptment to use. If you don't know how to operate one they can be very difficult especially if you fight them. So I come around the corner and this guy had given the thing a try and put it right through the wall. There was a perfect profile of the machine right through the sheetrock. I just LOLed and told the story of the first time I used one.

I was in Texas and in desperate need of money. I had a day job and this guy who lived in the same apartment complex as I lived owned a cleaning company. He offered me night time work and asked me if I had ever used a floor buffer. Being sure I could eaisly figure it out I said, sure. That night he sent me to clean a hardware store. I plugged in the floor buffer step up to it and pulled the trigger. The buffer took off and knocked over a spinning tower of key blanks and ripped the outlet right out of the wall. I spent 6 hours matching up the keys and putting them back on the rack.
