I was thinking of buying a pressure washer for my lake cabin. It has vinyl siding, which I'd like to be able to clean once or twice a year. I don't want to break the bank with this idea.

    Any suggestions?

There is a member here who is the NA dealer for Karcher. He'll probably reply of you can do a search in OT to find him. He has given great deals on washers. I have one of their small electric portables and it will wash my house extremely well, as my main wall is 32' high.

Buy one! For a couple of hundred bucks, you will have one of your own that you will use for more than cleaning your cabin. I also use mine with garden chem's to hit areas of my garden that are far off, cleaning car engines and parts, cleaning the driveway. WOW! A thousand and one uses!!!

Do you want gas or electric? Electric will limit you to about 1300 psi so if you have a deck, it will be very slow going. I have a nice 2400 psi 5 hp Honda w/ 2400 psi, 5 q.c. tips and a 25' h.p. hose that i can sell you for $295 (my most popular unit). These are factory reconditioned, but are like new w/ less than 10 hrs on them and come w/ a 1 year warranty. I have over 350 of these in stock. Let me know if I can help you. Jerry.

I use mine to clean my driveway. I used it to clean the exterior walls of my last house, but I must have got to close because I cut through the stucco like butter. Mine is electric and seems to have plenty of power.

Go with the Honda unit. I went with an Electric and I feel like I wasted my money. Does the honda have a rotating Nozzle?? I think most people will agree that the honda unit is better than craftsman or Briggs. Be carefull because with the pressure. I remember when I was 15 I took out the pressure washer to clean my dads car and was to close to the paint. I hit a small stone chip and blew off a huge piece of paint. I also had to get stitches after I hit my foot with the washer when I was cleaning the deck with no shoes. Man, those things are dangerous....... Also, if you are cleaning siding you want to work from the top down to avoid forcing water under the siding. From the ground is the easiest but it forces water where you don't want it.

Honda does not actually make pressure washers, they simply supply the engines to the manufacturers. Briggs now owns Generac, which has SOME decent models. The rotary nozzle is awesome and it is an extra $39.00. We are a service center for (I believe) every brand made and I can tell you that Craftsman are much less than desirable (to be PC)...very hard to get parts, cheaply built and the parts are very expensive. The Honda "GC" series (which is what is on this K-2400 unit) is a great engine/machine for around the house use, but for commercial use, the Honda "GX" series, Briggs Vanguard, Kohler Command Pro and Subaru/Robin are all awesome. It all depends what you intend to do with the machine and how many hours you intend to put on it. For around the house type use, you would be hard pressed to wear out the GC Honda. Karcher is the only machine that we sell because they are built far superior to any others. Karcher is one of the only "true" manufacturers of pressure washers (of course they farm out the engines on the gasoline powered equipment). Almost all others are simply assemblers.

Thanks for the offer, that is a good deal. I think I'll stick to an electric; as they're cheaper, and I already have lots of gas motors to maintain.

Go on e-bay and buy an electric Karcher w/ a model # in the three hundreds (310, 395, etc.) or higher, do NOT get any that start with a 2 or a QVC machine!! The best is the K-520M if you can find it at a decent price. I specialize in sales of gas washers and buy them by the semi load.

This is a great deal, and about what I'd consider the MINIMUM for a pressure washer!

I bought a cheapo craftsman electric, that I blew up in 2 weeks. Rotating tips leave all kinds of marks and suck suck suck!

Then I bought a briggs&stratton 2.5hp or so gas washer. That lasted me a month, wouldn't start, and only worked a bit better than the electric. It still had the rotating tip, which is JUNK.

I now have a 13hp HONDA powered 3700PSI beast with an italian pump, and it's AWESOME!!! real tips with fan patterns, real POWER (ajustable down if you need it too.) And the best part, it starts absolutely every time and is easier to pull than my old 2.5hp POS! Cost $999 at Home Depot. (actually cost ME $750 because it was the floor model, goo!)
