I thought it would be a good idea for a thread dedicated to home remedies.

Anything from a sore throat, reducing acne, to disenfecting countertops, what home remedies do you have to keep you healthy?

I would suggest titling your post so it can keep it a little easier to search.

For general aches/pains/inflamation I use large doses of turmeric (say a tablespoon or 2 mixed into a glass of orange juice).

For most everything else? I either eat a bunch of raw ginger, soak it in water to make ginger water, or brew it into tea.

I offer my uncle's sure fire flu cure concoction.

    2 tbs Honey
    4 oz Apple juice
    2 oz Pineapple juice

    ****IMPORTANT*****
Mix these sweet items together first!

    After mixing add the following:

    1 tbs Habenero Cayenne Pepper
    2 tbs olive oil
    3 Garlic cloves
    2 tbs Apple cider vinegar
    The juice of three limes

    Combine all ingredients in blender.
Drink a portion, gargle some before swallowing. This makes about an 8 oz drink.

Say what you want, I've heard it all before but it works for me & the people I've given it to. It doesn't taste great but some things that are good for you have a drawback anyway. The cayenne pepper will help sweat it out & clear your system, but if your not used to it. IT WILL GET YOUR ATTENTION.

    Good luck

I've always heard ginger is great for a lot of things. Including dizziness.

I'm going to keep that in mind.

One thing I used in college when I was completely congested and my nose was stopped up was something similar to a Hot Totty.

Spice Tea (powdered instant tea and tang). Combine to your liking, I prefer more Tang.
Mix (as much as you desire, I use about 1.5oz.) in your favorite Whiskey. I used Wild Turkey.

Nose starts running and you can once again blow your nose to start clearing your head.

Whenever I get a cold/flu I have to eat Popeye's spicy chicken. In fact, it's the only time I ever really eat it.

    Ear ache.

    Slice and dice 1/2 onion.

Place in nuker (microwave) for 30 seconds to 1 minute (hot w/steam).

Place nuked onion in dish towel, fold and go to bed.

Please affected ear down, against towel w/hot onion.

    Go to sleep.

    Wake-up.

    Ear ache gone.

I have used this about 4-6 times a year for 20 years and it has NEVER once failed to cure the afflication with 2-3 hours.

    Enjoy!!!!!

    Mark,
Appreciate your ear ache/onion remedy...but how's that aroma in the morning? :)
I use rice,in a sock[rubber band the end],maybe a cup+/-,nuked a min+1/2 or so,go upside yo head, and it can be reused many times[I'll wander around the house muttering''where's my sock?'']...my ache may be TMJ related but the cure isn't fun[surgically speaking].
And if you're outta rice and onions hot water on a washcloth[as hot as you can stand it{eh-yeah,don't scald yourself}] can do a nice job.
If fact ''hot compresses" can help cure lots of ailments faster...bumps[many call them 'zits' but I'm too old to get THEM],eruptions[them I get],bites[bugs etc]...heat is a good thing for speeding circulation, and that's a good thing[my wife,a retired nurse, put me on the hot compress thing years ago and it's kept me away from surgery so far...ear aches used to put me down/out,not any more].
    cheers,
    RE

Found another one surfing the web.

If you have a wart, soak it in apple cider vinegar. I don't know of a time table, but I do around 15-20 minutes.

I have a few on my hands and they're starting to disappear. One is almost completely gone after 2 soaks.
