I currently have a Sony Dreamsystem that has wireless rear speakers (although a wire runs between the both of them). I am thinking about upgrading to a Blueray system, and would love one that is completely wireless.

    Does such a system exist?

I don't know if there is a 'bundled' system that uses fully "wireless" speakers, but you could certainly piece together your own.

I put "wireless" in quotations because of the simple fact that instead of running a simple speaker wire for each speaker to your amp, you are going to have to plug each speaker into a wall outlet so that it can operate.

IMHO... "Wireless" speaker systems are too expensive, add significant complexity to your audio system, and still require a plug to operate(which is most likely bigger than the speaker cable).

You can do it... the question is why? Is there a specific reason that requires the use of completely a completely 'wireless' system?

Given the incredible audio options available through blueray, my $.02 (assuming optimal SQL is a goal) is to wire it - maybe compromise with the rear surrounds. Not sure if wireless has the bandwidth.

If you have a solid speaker array (don't skimp on the sub or center channel; get good L & R Front mains, and decent rear (5.1 or 7.1) speakers) and a good mid line receiver (Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer, Onkyo - OK no flames I know there are others....) AND a BR title with a good sound mix, you will be BLOWN away by the BR SQL.......I saw the most recent Star Trek a few nights ago....WOW, just WOW.

Wireless is good for portability. If you don't planning on moving the speakers much, once they are installed and optimized, why go wireless? I agree that wires are a bit of a hassle, but usually it's not a problem to route them cleanly or hide them inside or behind walls or false panels. As it is, with wireless speakers, you will still be stuck with having to hide the power cable, which is thicker and more dangerous if hidden inside walls, since it heats up. You will also have a lot more offerings to choose from, if you go with traditional wired speakers.

I agree, consider sticking with wired speakers! I think you'll be happier in the end, not to mention you'll get a far superior wired speaker for the same $$ as a wireless.
