I've always wanted to build a wooden airplane. I have several sets of plans, all using Stika Spruce and Birch pylwood. I've recently ordered a sample box of spruce from Wicks Aircraft...This stuff is beautiful. A 6" wide board has 45 annular rings...perfectly clear, and straight grained. This tree must have been at least 200 years old. Anybody else into homebuilt airplanes?????

Working with spruce is joy. I've helped to build several wooden airplanes and I envy you in your project. Take your time, be absolutely accurate, use good technique, tools and jigs, and the results are totally satisfying.
