For all the Ferrari bashers out there, what do you think is worse for the sport. Ferrari winning the way they do because they are the best TEAM in F1,
or Honda having to detune an engine to keep their homeboy "nip" from not burning up his rice burner?

All you Ferrari bashers argue that they are winning without class/boring the fans- not winning on the track. Yet Honda/BAR are willing to sacrifice good racing (tanking it) to get a few lowly scraps (constructor points).

DC said it best, don't get pissed at Ferrari because they got it right...........

    Well said! Bravo!

Sato does not deserve to be in F1. He would not have an F1 driving seat had Honda not sponsored him. He is only good for marketing t shirts and selling tickets for Suzuka.

Shame on BAR! Shame on Sato for accepting this! SHAME SHAME SHAME! What a disgrace to F1.

Sato and JPM have similar mentalities harbouring on the wrong side of crazy. Sato really needs to concentrate and he can do well, Button hasn't had a single engine failure save one gearbox glitch at Indy. I think Sato is just pushing the Honda engine too much.

It is a fact. Sato is only driving for BAR because he is Japanese and is sponsored by Honda. Honda use Sato for marketing and nothing more. Sato is blocking an F1 seat for more talented drivers that should be in F1 such as Timo Glock and Anothony Davidson.

If Sato was in the seat for marketing reasons then BAR would still be running on Bridgstones this season as Bridgestone is a Japaniese company.

The Way i see it Sato payed his dues learned how to go fast last year and is doing a much better job than JV did for all of the years he sucked money away from BAR. If a driver should be out of a car it should be Massa as he did not learn a thing testing for Ferrari last year. In fact the only reason he has a sauber ride is that Jean Todt little brother is Massa's manager.

If Honda has to detune Sato's motor to get it to the finish then do it. sure it may not seem to be the best for the sport but lets face it at indy when there was only8 cars running at the end in one long high speed funeral procession versus lots of cars on the track batteling till the end.. I would take the detuned engine and lots of cars on the track.

Er, that is his job ;). It is up to the team to make a car strong enough, and this they are doing by detuning it.

I like Sato he is a breathe of fresh air to the sport.

I think it is kind of funny that they detuned Sato"s engine but it is kind of mean to make it unfair for Sato

No, simply ignore Frank_C ... obviously a racist idiot like Imperial83. Very sad. Sato is doing a great job IMO. Not perfect, but then neither is MS or myself.

Racisim and the size of your balls have nothing in common. Calling a spade a spade is having balls, not calling a Japanese person a 'nip'.

Perhaps some should read more. Sato is banging out engines because of his shifting. Most current reports state that he is letting the revs drop too much before downshifting. They could be wrong, but reading beats bashing anyday.
Everyone just assumes that he is over reving the motor, either because it's the only thing they can think of or they heard it and now call it fact. Either way....

People with very short memories (or complete bigots) are forgetting that when Mercedes moved back into motorsport a few moons ago they did it via Sauber's then Group C effort.

FIRST thing they did was demand all drivers had to be German, not 1 but all. Hence 4 talented non Germans (including kiwi Mike Thackwell) were booted out for the good of Mercedes and the Fatherland and in stepped MS, Frentzen and friends.

BTW MS did from memeory 2 races with Thackwell and shall we say, his car control didn't match his ego. Thackwell was quicker, especially in the wet. But because of Mercedes the non-germans were out, irrespective of ability.

Its one thing for a German manufacturer to want German drivers for a project they are supporting, especially when that manufacturer has set up a junior drivers program specifically for that purpose. It’s another thing altogether to call an Asian driver a “Nip”

The first I have no problem with, the second I do, and BYW my panties are not in a wad. I thought it was a stupid bigoted thing to say and I have no trouble calling a spade a spade.

Frank_C, You can infer from this what you will, however I believe my opinion of your post, and therefore you, is evident.

What are you on? Anthony Davidson raced something like 2 races with marginal success. He is in line (MAYBE) for a lower level manufacturer's seat next year. Timo Glock has raced in ONE RACE where he got lucky and scored some points. Is he even being talked about for a drive next year?

I am sure we all understand and know that sponsorship plays some role in people getting seats, but there is not some huge conspiracy that is putting highly inexperienced and poor drivers in top roles to make people like you angry.

I don't care any more, the only people that are hurting are BAR. Good for them, they deserve Sato.

I wish he blows up more engines. It is a known fact that he is letting the revs on the engine drop too low before shifting. That is causing the engine failures. This has been posted in other threads too many times. So I like Sato very much, he is taking out a car that could compete with the Ferraris.

So go Sato go! Go blow up another engine or go race with a detuned engine and end up in 11th again!

67 constructors points, 3rd behind Renault (who are having their second year where they are competetive vs. BAR's first) ahead of Williams and McLaren. Not too bad if you ask me. Both TS and JB are constantly in the mix at the top of the leaderboard. I agree, go Sato go.

You must be crazy. I was at Indy and Sato was driving the hell out of that Honda. He was setting scorching lap times the whole race. He drove better than everyone that race, he just got a couple bad breaks. You don't get on the podium as much as he does if you suck. Don't get me wrong I bleed ferrari red, but Sato is incredible.

Not on the podium (he's only been there once) but set great lap times and be in the points (and certainly, contend).

That's fine if Honda has to adapt their engine to the driver. I don't see the problem. It's all part of the game. Sato has improved a lot the past 2 years, and that's enough for me to think he deserves his seat.
Sato drives with his heart, and it shows. And it's awesome. He's one of my favourite drivers out there, he gives everything he has, even if it's too much ... and that's where it's beautiful!!
