I fail to understand the idol worship of Senna. While I realize he was a very good driver, he was also a cheat who crashed his rivals on purpose. If I did that on I-75 I would be arrested. If a pro-athletic takes steroids, he is treated like a piranha. But if a F1 driver such a Senna and Schumacher crash their rivals on purpose, all is forgiven.

Senna and Schumacher are too great to dismiss their place in Formula 1 history just on those instances.

What Senna did in Suzuka 1990 was and is inexcusable, but I fail to see how that takes away from all those other qualifying sessions and races in which he was truly great and, for modernday Formula 1, perhaps the greatest.

    I thought exactly the same.

I've said before, I don't think Flav should be allowed anywhere near a race track as long as his (fat) ass points downwards.

    Cheers,
    Ian

You don't crucify people for 1-2 mistakes they make over their career. Yes, they're no angels, but what are the chances there will be another Schumacher or Senna in F1 again?

Agreed, I never get tired of this one.

Sad to see the usual suspects come in and whine how one is not allowed to respect Senna and Schumacher because they do not like them; more of a sad commentary on their own negativity imho.

It is hard to believe that it will be 20 years ago that we lost Senna on May 1st this year. It speaks for the quality of the man, as it does of Jimmy Clark that we are still discussing them in 2014 as often as we do in such a positive manner.

    There definitely will be IMO!

Maybe not in my (our? ;) ) lifetimes, but one will emerge at some point.
