Over the past two years I was contemplating on buying a Ferrari Testarossa and never got farther than looking at them, hitting my middle age crazy/mid life crisis(50 Years) I told myself I would buy one before the end of the year. I had found a few and visited the location a few times, every business trip. To make a long story short, found the one I wanted bought it(one week after leaving the ripe old age of 50) and in the following weeks I forget to mention to my significant other that I bought it. She was busy anyways being 38 weeks pregnant. Good thing to here is the timeline:
    Jan 2007 turned 50
Spring 2007 knocked up wife(14 years younger)
    Jan 2.2008 Turned 51
    Jan 9.2008 Daughter born
Jan 14.2008 Brought wife and daughter home from hospital
Jan 16.2008 (approx date) bought Testarossa
Feb 15(apporx date) brought Testarossa home
My much older twin daughters tell me to give it a rest
Friends and family are suffering from Shock & Awe oh yea and laughing

Me I laugh and say WTF, enjoying my life and my now freedom 75.
P.S. Wife still loves me and tells me to go enjoy a drive in it every weekend, weather permitting.

Any others have unusal stories on their Ferrari purchases?

I worked the deal with Roy, well Kevin, and the car was set to be shipped. Went to bed that night had a good night sleep. When I woke up the next morning my wife 14 years younger than me was sitting on the bed smiling from ear to ear with a EPT stick in her hand waiting for me to wake up. I smiled at her and said, I am still getting the Ferrari. LOL. My Daughter Lania is born now and I am keeping the Ferrari although I have been giving lots of thought the a Bentley GTC so the three of us can all go driving together. I would like to have my daughter interested in cars instead of seeing them as something which her dad disappears in for hours.

I had the Ferrari delivered to my house in Florida in the fall of 07 and I didn't get to see it in person for ~2 months after it arrived as I was at my house in NY until the snow came. That was a long two months for sure. The car was exactly as Kevin described it and I will buy more cars from Cats in the future assuming the stock market recovers.

You know there have been a lot of threads on this site about how great Roy is to do business with and I have to say in my case I concur with those threads. It was a great experience seamless and easy. The amount of time on my end of the transaction was limited to what it needed to be. Roy and Kevin are both VERY respectful of other peoples time.

Lastly I thought the Ferrari would be the highlight of the week that night after I ordered it but my daughter is the world to me.

Congatulations on the new additions to the family and hope all are well. The TR, just curious how old are the twins because I can only imagine that they will want to cruise in it! Everytime my wife gets in a mood, I tell her to go into the garage and look at the TR, always brings a smile back on her face. :)

I had to cut short my honeymoon because a pre-owned Ferrari I had been waiting for became available at my local dealership as a trade-in. It was my first Ferrari. At the time my wife said she knew I liked cars a lot, but not this much. We're still happily married. I still couldn't do what you did and buy a car without letting her know.

Gee that is another part of the saga. High school sweetheart gave me the twins, they are 36 and will be 37 next May, You think I would take up drinking after all of that. I know I shocked my parents more than once in my life.

Just curious, with a SN 63805, it would seem that your TR would be an 85 or 86, not an 88. Not that I am an expert on TR SN's, but they usually follow a numerical sequence starting with numbers like 53 in 1984 and 98 in 1991.

    Mine is March 88, #76639

BTW, "63805" appears to have Euro side marker on the front fender. Maybe it's actually "73805" due to a typo.

    Oh. Shucks.

Which would make sense, since 63805 is a Euro yellow Testarossa. But, as has been mentioned, 63805 is from 1986, not '88. Could've been the usual title/Euro/year SNAFU at the DMV.

Dana, nice to know you still own 76639. Any chance you know the gearbox type and number...? Also, can you tell us how many miles are currently on the odometer...? :)
