    Fellow Ferrari Owners and Enthusiasts,

This is an open message for anyone who has any service history (Or any details at all) of my Black 348 spyder imported into Hongkong Feb 1994. Its last HK registration was CD 752 (maybe it was also its first registration). Last HK owner has not replied to my many emails even though I have been very courteous.

I know it has had 4 previous owners in HK prior to being sold to the last owner, Mr Michael Lee, and the handbook shows that it was purchased in the UK by Mr Larry Tam through Park Lane Motors from H.R. Owen and exported to HK immediately after.

I would be very gratefull indeed if any of you gentlemen and obviously those special lady Ferrari drivers can assist me in my search.

    Thank you all in anticipation

    John Salmon

Have you checked with Italian Motors? I suspect they'll have something.

yeah, IM should have the details, just ask them to remove the name and address of the previous owners and they should not have a problem. that is, as long as you are taking the car to them for servicing and the previous owners did too.

    Ed/Tony,

Thanks for your input. I did send off a very polite and courteous e mail to Italian Motors but did not hear a dickie bird from them.

Unfortunately should have mentioned that the 348 spyder is now back here in the UK so no chance of getting it to IM for the servicing!!

I have beeen in touch with the HK Motor taxation department (twice) and hoping to receive details of all the past HK owners so hopefully will be eventually able to receive details of servicing from them.

In the meantime if you guys have any named contacts in IM and could let me have e mail addresses I would be very gratefull.

Car had only 11000 miles on the clock when it was exported back from HK in 2003 after 9 years so I'm not expecting too much as regards a servicing record except possibly annual servicing and oil changes. Due to the lack of service history the first thing that DK Engineering carried out was a full service and engine out belt/chain change.

    Regards
    John Salmon

Forget about it, IM will not reveal previous service history unless they received clear approval from previous owner. Hk has a privacy law that makes it illegal to disclose such information without proper consent.

Plus, shop level employees will not go out of their way to assist a request from outside HK, not in their best interest since you are not a current or forseeable local customer. Your only possibilty is putting the request thru one of their senior managers like Alex Yip.

My advice is to just enjoy the car since you just fully serviced it. Since the car is such low mileage it shouldn't have much of a service history anyways except for a few oil changes, a clutch and cambelt service.

    Chris,

Thanks for your input into my search for service history for this car. They say that curiosity killed the cat however it's just that I have the insatiable drive to explore every possibility in order to achieve my objective!

Hopefully by contacting the previous owners they may be able to furnish me with the servicing details once I receive the details from the HK Motor taxation dept. They have already forwarded me details of the last HK owner which incidentally I already had from import documentation I managed to obtain.

Just as a "by the way" on the overall history of this car I contacted H R Owen in London as they initially supplied the vehicle but after numerous, but as normal, very courteous requests, not even a reply!!
I then contacted Peter Everingham at the Ferrari Owners Club who managed to obtain the info I required by speaking to the "right person" at H R Owen.

Furthermore through my exhaustive searches I have also confirmed that the car was collected from HR Owen on a Monday and on Wednesday it was being registered in HK!!!!! (Prior to that I was assuming that the car had spent some time in the UK before being exported. H R Owen knew nothing about this instantaneous export as they were under the impression the new Chinese owner was resident in the UK up until the time they grew curious of why the car had never been returned for the first free service.)

I even visited the first owners ficticious UK address in order to fill in the gaps.

Hopefully curiosity will not kill the cat in this particular instance (Unless the Triads are involved!!) It's all very cloak and dagger stuff and most intriguing. so as you may have gathered its not just the service history that's driving me forward on this.

IM will give you the details but they will blank out the previous owner's name and address. But you're gonna have to beg them. Send a letter to Herbert Adamczeck, he runs the place. You could offer to pay them for the info, depends how much you want it.
