Does anyone have a good cross reference or source for 400i front Bonnet struts? The TR guys have an easy cross reference to a common strut for both front and rear - anything similar for a 400i? I am sick of putting the clamp on my 400i strut (#049773) to hold the bonnet open every time I add oil (which is frequently)...

    Hi Alex,

Not sure if your struts are gas filled or not, but I just had my original hood struts from the 89 Mondial rebuilt/recharged.

You can have your existing struts refreshed at about half the price of ordering the parts (if you can find them).

I just used LIFT SUPPORT TECHNOLOGIES out of Canada. Approximately $45 each for the gas filled struts. Very quick, efficient, and apart from a small warranty sticker placed on the struts (which I will remove)...they are your ORIGINAL parts.

(Just tell him to leave the warranty sticker OFF).

Hey Dave - thanks very much for these leads. Your couldn't have known but it it turns out that I knew about these guys who do the re-filling (mine are gas struts) but I was hoping that someone had a cross reference for something I could pick up at the local auto zone / napa / etc. (there is apparently a TR cross reference).

Thanks VERY much though for the effort - still need to reach out to you to finalize my wine order....
