the insalation or foam under the hood of my 1988 tr is peeling right off. What would be a solution, replace it or just pant under it.

I am told this a common problem on the Testarossa - just bought 1991 Testarossa with on 1,700 miles on it, and the insulation was falling apart and looked like it had been baking over the engine of a car with 100,000 miles on it. My car is currently in having a major service, so i am having the insulaton replaced so the engine bay will look as pristine as the rest of the car...buyer beware though, you may want to find an alternative if you're not going to be having your TR judged in a concourse event. That little piece of insulation will cost you between $790 - $890!

Not all TR's even came from the factory with that foam rubber. Just take it off, even if you do show it, it should not cost you any points.

Call Ricambi. They got me one for about $500 +/- last year. I personally think it is CRAZY for a piece of hood insulation, but I was also after originality. If you have time to look around, I am sure you could find insulation, cut it to fit, and no one would even know the differnce.

The on-line parts catalogue at Ricambi shows the US insulation (61572900) at $769.06
and the euro insulation (61541800) at $182.30.
Might be alternative but like bryan said, my '86 didn't have any whether that was original or not and it looked good. Much like the 308.

I went for the original US product to maintain the originality - but the euro product may have fit, at a fraction of the cost...
Does anyone know what percentage of the euro parts are intechangeable - because they are generally less expensive

I thought about the insulation and and decided to go with the the Carbon Fiber/glass engine cover instead. A bit pricey but a refreshing look for the car.

Wow, definitely a nice finished appearance and doubtless effective. Do you have a source for that?
