I'm leaving in the morning for a three day event at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Auto Museum where there will be close to 100 airplanes on the grass. I'm taking an art display and some paintings but I'm supposed to be a decent docent and antique airplane judge ( since I'm an antique too). I'm going to fly in their L-5, Russ, so I will give you a report. I'm going to hop a ride in anything else that I can, too. Pemberton will have his 1929 Boeing Mod 40 there so it will be an interesting get together.
    I'll probably take 4 or 5 pictures.

Is this open to the public? I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. My brother is an airplane nut and lives in the area. Thanks!

You are correct, Russ. This airplane is the epitome of authenticity and workmanship. I have worked on many , small ,large, and done my own, but this airplane is staggering in its perfection in absolutely everything ! Addisson Pemberton and his family have created what I think is the pinnacle of aircraft restoration. He started with a few bones and a name plate and after 18000 hours of work over a period of 8 years has produced an absolute masterpiece. It is a big airplane, 42 foot wing span and 6000 pounds loaded so it wasn't a normal undertaking. It was a monsterous project. He was able to get all the necessary Boeing drawings ( not from Boeing ) to accomplish the job and the result is absolutely astonishing. I wasn't able to take many pictures of it because I was busy with my art stuff and had to stay with that but I got a few when it came in that I will post soon. I didn't get a ride in it but my son, Kris, did and he was on cloud nine as they say. I corresponded with Pemberton before first flight to work out some CG concerns and we had a nice chat about that as he remembered me from a couple of years ago. The airplane will be hangared at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Auto Museum in Hood River all winter and I'm certain that it will draw a few people to see it.
