After having successfully installed a new cd/radio and new speakers in the door, it is time to hook up a sub in the front trunk with its separate amp. You just gotta have your tunes at some time...
I plan on putting a dedicated subwoofer amp in the trunk along with a 12" sub in a sealed enclosure (for now). How do I tap into the battery for the amp? Also, how do I wire the wires through the firewall? Most likely I will have it professionally installed, but I know those questions will come up : "Where the heck is the battery in this thing", etc...

So does anyone have any input on this matter?
    thanks

my battery is in front driver side fender forward of tire . i drilled a hole in the foreward compartment with a grommet- 4 ga . wire direct to battery . amp is mounted on foreward compartment wall. if u remove carpet shell you will see a rubber seal with wires going thru ,pass side just below window . good area to fish wires .
fyi amp in trunk has a difficult time getting decent response in the cabin. your front bonnet vibrates and creates distortion beofre you actually hear anything. your better off with tactile transducers under the seats and a low freq midrange in the doors .

Thanks for the info. How exactly did you access the battery? Did you have to remove the front tire? Did you do this yourself? I am fairly capable of wiring car stereos, just need access to battery..
    thanks,

Jack up the front right of the car and remove the front right wheel. There you wil see a pannel on the inner wheel arch just behind the front bumper. Remove the panel using x head screws and or some times 8 or 10mm bolts. The battery will be there. The easiest route to the cockpit is to feed the cable through the drivers side of the car in to the cock pit. But then of course your car is LHD and mine is RHD: You will see there is a selection of cables that run through it, with enough room in the gromit to pas an amp cable. There is room behind the seat to mount anps or indeed in the front boot.

wow you really need help ! :) there are pads that you will find right below where the door hinges. you may need to drive the car up onto 4 pieces of 2x12 scrap lumber to get enough clearance for your jack.

Alternately, the 1.5-ton aluminum jacks have such a low saddle that you can easily get to said jacking point with one of those. I have retired all my old steel floorjacks for aluminum ones.
