My 360 is one of a few cars I own (but drive the most) - so at my age (72) you tend to forget what does what, and what works what, on what car. In an extreme quick response to blowing the horn - I am unable to remember or find where the two horn buttons on the steering wheel are. Under normal conditions - no problem but when someone cuts in front of me - in addition to turning the wheel to get out of the way I need to blow the horn but the cute little holes in the leather that cover the horn button(s) don't really tell me quickly enough where the horn button is. I thought of taking a small prancing horse (like a tie pin) and cutting off the stem and gluing the silver(s) horse over the horn button(s). Does anyone else ever have this problem and has anyone a thought how to fix it?

    My solution would be to:

    1. Fix or upgrade the horn to something that people can actually hear and recognize.
    2. Take to a car stereo shop and have them add a button or switch in a place you are familiar with so you can hit it as you wish... You could add a push/hold down type button near the shifter/cupholder area.

I'd recommend against gluing a metal object - it might damage the leather. You could try a simple sticker, like those gold stars they hand out in elementary school.

Agree. Upgrade the horn, don't glue anything to your steering wheel because it won't stick and will look like crap.

Really, there is no solution without making any changes to the steering wheel. Many times I've missed my horn when needed. It is not convenient for me either, but you just try to make due.

The sticker idea actually isn't that bad to help your problem...especially if you can find small stickers of the ferrari horse....

Someone said put a button by the cup holders...I don't have those in my 360 ;)

Nice, but what about the lighter plug?

Think you guys missed the boat on this one. His problem is not how the horn sounds, but finding the two little buttons on the spokes when he is used to hitting the middle of the wheel for the horn like on most cars.

The is probably someone out there who can turn the entire center airbag cover or the Ferrari emblem into a horn button without interfering with airbag operation. Has been done on other cars for years. Ferrari uses rim controlled horns on the F430 and 599, as opposed to the spoke controlled horns on the 360/612 era of cars, so they never did go back to a center horn button. I still find myself missing the horn on my 575M, same location as the 360's, in reaction situations.

Anyone out there know someone with that kind of expertise? Not too complicated.

That always bugged me in my 360 also. I try to rarely use the horn on cars if possible, but in emergencies and/or to keep someone from plowing into you, sometime you have to honk. I always forgot where the horn was, because my other cars had it square in the middle of the steering wheel. Having it so difficult to locate quickly on the steering wheel was always sort of a pain. Like you say, if you switch cars, it's easy to forget where it is and/or "get close, but no cigar" in a panic.

I would be careful modifying the car too much however. That might hurt the resale value.

I like the idea of the stickers - but still a problem in that (for example) knowing that the horn button is squarely in the middle of the steering wheel (as in most cars) you don't need to look for it - you instinctively know where it is and you can push it without even looking (as you are watching someone about to plow into you). The smooth, flat stickers would require a visual check to see where the horn button(s) are whereas a metal emblem could be quickly found with your finger tips - and immediately pushed. Oh Well, back to the drawing board.
Bit thanks for the good comments.

I still think the stickers or a piece of felt sticker cut like a dot or circle would be worth a shot- wouldn't hurt the wheel at all and it might help!

If you think our 360 wheels are tough with the horn location, I had the privilege of driving an Enzo 4 times. On top of being careful due to the value of the car, the lowness, wide-ness, performance, and of other people on the highway that liked to pull next to you to take pictures or just hang out the window and yell with glee, you have to remember the blinkers are right on the spot where the 360 horn buttons are!

By the way, the 360 wheel is perfect to me excluding the horn button location. It is the perfect size and has no other buttons/switches on it. Just a good clean 3-spoke beautiful steering wheel that feels great to use!

    Stupid suggestion:

take the Factory 360 steering wheel off, and fit a F40 like(momo with traditional horn button) steering wheel on, problem solved. but you do lose protection from the air bag.

To modify your original 360 is a huge project.... IMO

George- Did not realize the steering wheels were that different between the 360 and the 575M. Apparently, you were not the only one having difficulty finding the horn buttons, they changed them for the 575M. Another possible solution if a 575M wheel will fit, or if someone can adapt the 575M horn buttons to your wheel. Photos of a 360 wheel and my 575M wheel below.

I took the two photos you sent me and I will show them to my mechanic to see if in fact we can install a new steering wheel - looks like you are right - someone at Ferrari must have realized that the horn buttons needed to be visible and accessible.
