Found out today that the horn isn't working in my 99 SV. I think I have read about this before and it is just a fuse, but before I go on a goose chase anyone have any ideas on how to fix it.

    Thanks
    Jeff

If not fuse go to www.lamboweb.com = click repairs...

John M runs this non commercial site with a "how to" step by step section with pictures. It covers the horn and many other DIY things.

Excellent site to add to your favorites..

Also see the Parts Section... many of us have helped put that together...

LOL. I never even tried to honk the horn on that car...or any other Diablo. When the guy inspecting the car asked me to honk the horn....I had to look for it. And sure enough, it didn't honk!!

Its probably one or both of the contacts under the leather covering the wheel. Looks like a real pain to repair! Have to unwrap the wheel.

It's real simple to fix. The hardest part is just getting the allen wrench behind the steering wheel, and removing the screws. Once in there, just use a razor blade to cut the rubber risers down about 1/32 inch so that the metal spike touches the metal plate once it's pressed. It'll make since once you have it apart.

thanks for the tip on how to fix it. I checked the fuses and it is not that. My only question to those whose horns do not work is how your car can pass an inspection if you have one in your state?

One of the closest calls I've had in my 99 SV was because i forgot how to get the horn to work. I'm used to horns in the center of the wheel, not on the spoke edges.

I was rolling in a long line of traffic between lights and a big 4WD pickup apparently could not see me because the car is so short, and he began changing lanes next to me, coming into my lane. I started pounding on the center of the steering wheel and by the time I remembered how to honk, he was an inch at most from my car. Luckily he heard and stopped, but it was one of those incidents that makes you shake a little and feel really stupid/lucky.

all the folks at the DMV are too fricked out at the sight on the car (at least in kansas city)....it's a miracle they stay focused enough to write up the inspection sheet.

as a frequent contributor to our local/state DMV, the only questions they ever ask of me is to see the vehicle odameter, vin plate and open up the engine deck lid to see the engine.....

Hey Tom, if the weather's good tomorrow I'll likely drive . . . If you were interested in a short trip out to Lee's Summit, I would spring for lunch. If interested, call me at the office tomorrow around 11:00. Or PM me.
