Hi all. The horn in my '79 GTB works OK but I'd like it to work like the horn in my BBi. In the BBi, you just touch the horn button and the horn has a good strong immediate "Beep".

The 308 horn requires really pressing the horn button, then the air pump gets going and then the horn works. I've run the compressor (hooked up to the horns) on the bench using a 12 VDC supply and it works great.

I've checked the wiring in the steering wheel, no corrosion, clean metal, all making good contact. I've checked the ground wire at the compressor and it all good. So, I want to check the relay. However, I can't find the relay! It's not listed in the owners manual in the electrical section diagram.

Does anyone know of the location? Also, I retrofitted the car with the Bird man's fuse blocks. Everything else in the car electrically, works great.

    Thanks

For what its worth, I could never get my air horns to work to my satisfaction. I wanted real loud and right now should I ever see some big SUV backing into me in a parking lot.

I installed Hella Supertones (118 dB piezoelectric horns) in the area behind the battery. I can swap back to the stock horns by simply moving a spade connector.

Yeah, I think they’re loud enough now.
