I was thinking that Horner would take a sabbatical next year, but yeah, it could be a possibility that Verstappen as well...!

The silly season is going to explode if Verstappen decides to use the exit clause to leave RedBull.

 

That kind of money is not even a rounding error for Red Bull Corporate.

 

His presence is a 24/7 issue. Who's paying Jos to drive? Is Max trying to get him out of the garage? And how does Jos earn a living these days? Certainly not based on his own career.

 

If Verstappen decides to stay and continue the idea that this is Team Verstappen and get rid of whoever is not aligned could be a big gamble.
Without Newey and the risk of the new powertrains, the team could really tumble for a couple of years. I don't think he has the patience to build
a team and slowly go up the field.

 

he's hardly there these days. He's constantly rallying. Dunno who pays for the rallying, he's got a bit of cash for himself but given how generous Max is with his cash wouldn't surprise me he's sponsoring his dad to drive as a gesture for all he's done for him.

 

I think Horner's management and decision making these last 2 years started to worry some staff and irritate the Red Bull Gmbh board members. Probably that the choice for Red Bull to make their own engines was questionable: it needed a lot of funding with no certainty of success. From a corporate point of view it's a big risk; Horner insisted and finally lost the argument in a very brutal way.
No idea how it will go from there. I see Miekes as a stop gap for the moment. Red Bull Gmbh and RBR have to review their policy for years to come.

 

Of all of the things that Horner could have been fired for, creating a brand new partnership with a major automaker, Ford, and bringing new money and support, does not strike me as the last straw.

May as well weigh in. It was probably the glaringly obvious reason: his libido has broken the team.

 

Creating Red Bull Powertrain was a step in the unknow for Red Bull. Until then, they were an engine customer team.
In any case Red Bull was to fund 50% of the venture and call on Red Bull Gmbh, the drink company , for back up.
That became Horner's pet project, and the news that filtered about RBPT's progress were alarming.
The "sex scandal" was probably a plot to get rid of him that was badly executed, and failed.

 

He'll turn up somewhere else pretty soon - he is too good a team principal not to have people knocking down his door. Maybe he can pair up with Daniel..

And when John is wrong he is really really --- the concept that RB and MB have similar risk profiles for Max next year is really, really, really el-wrongo... but we love you John!

Yet it matters to competence on the part of the one who approved it. Would it surprise you that to some boards every cent matters.

 

This is a significant action for RedBull Corporate to take in the middle of an active season! That is the most compelling observation. Now -this was done now, not in August or winter. Management was not going to wait. New leadership at the team level installed and current removed with no notice!

Accumulated reasons or factors forced this. Drastic is my view. Wache has to be under review as well. I could see him being removed at season end.

 

Maybe Newey (and Rob Marshall to a lesser degree) leaving Red Bull was akin to the tide going out, exposing Horner was swimming naked all along.

One thing is for sure, Mekies is just a stop gap solution (a Ferrari failure reject).

Red Bull is going back to midfield in 2026. Which poses the problem, why would Red Bull corporation need 2 midfield teams?
I think Racing Bulls are finally sold.

 

To be fair, he left because he wanted. It was a promotion for him, from sporting director to team principal. He did well at the "B" team and now unexpectedly he´s promoted to the "A" team: not a bad career move, I´d say. He´s entering a mine field but no pain, no glory.

Yes, a drastic decision was taken in the middle of the year. The harder they fall.
I am wondering if we will not see Red Bull decline further before season end.
(Gene Haas was more prudent when he sacked Guenther Steiner. )
There will be nothing left of the team Horner built. Red Bull will never be the same, IMO.
Max and his agent must be furiously looking for a different berth.

 

Well, their chances for this season seem slim, to say the least, so the earlier they change, the easier will be the transition.
