    Hey all,

I just joined here quickly to get some information, Ill start off by saying I'm not familiar with Ferrari in any facet. Hopefully you guys could be kind enough to answer a few questions and spare me the "use the search function there are plenty of topics on this" as I frequently get on the BMW forums. if I knew how to search for this I would.

    Ok so here it goes.

I'm looking to put a Ferrari horn similar to this one https://youtu.be/Y4E8loO1LPk on my BMW. I've about narrowed it down to the fact that it's a FIAMM horn, but that's about it. I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg for a cast iron original Ferrari horn just something that will sound European and have a little more class than what they put on my car from the factory. I can figure out the wiring later I'm just curious as to the model of this particular horn so I can know what to look for.

    Thanks guys.

I have a 1987 and the horn is plastic. They are just air horns. I put one in my Honda Civic in 1989

Not a Ferrari owner either but will offer some possible help. I think the Fiamm site has recorded clips of their horns to listen to, and I believe you can get two or three trumpet sets in different lengths and notes. Those sound like twin trumpets of a shorter length. I have put them in cars, trucks, and on my Ducati. They would have instructions included, or a haynes automotive electrical manual would also give instructions for wiring one in.

You can get a pair of Fiamm air horns and a compressor on Amazon for $40. They probably have the nice European sound that you are looking for.

Ricambi, main sponsor here, sells a Ferrari parts kit air-horn. About $200 last time I looked.

Make sure that you can connect your BMW's original horn back for inspection (assuming your state has annual inspections). Here in TX aftermarket air horns are not allowed. My Mondial failed an annual inspection due to the OEM horn. I had to explain to the guy 3 times that the car came from the factory with the air horns. He finally went to his office and checked the manual (supposedly) before he passed my car. I think he was just getting rid of me at that point, because I'm not convinced he could read.

There are many choices in air horns, and it is worth investigating Stebel. They are also Italian made, and offer some more compact designs. I too wished to install air horns on my BMW, but I never found a suitable mounting location (the compressor and horns take up considerably more space), so never bothered. I'd love one for my 430 Scuderia, over the "Ford" sounding horn it came with.

Once you pick the model you like, then google search...some are available off Amazon for around $35
The GP2 is similar sounding to what the older Ferraris had. It has been a while but you used to be able to find the Stebel GP2 set at chain autoparts stores for around $25. I helped a friend install a set of GP2s on his F40. It had a similar sounding (crappy) horn as my 430 Scuderia. Not anymore. ;)

Stebel has many choices, and you can listen to them on that website as well. :)
