Maybe. But it sure as hell is a strange way to go about this. If the poster described his issues with Norwood, it would make for a strong hit along what has already been said in this thread. But the way it's done currently, it's the other way around.

Why don't you start your own thread if things are as bad as you say? If you have a valid case where Norwood has done the things you accuse him of, we're all very interested, and willing to help and listen. But that post there is 100% useless.

My understanding is that no 288 directly became an F40, however the initial few 288 Evo's were derived from stock 288's

These converted evo's were then progressively modified to become hybrid 288 Evo/F40 esque but the first true F40 was a stand alone car with no direct link to a 288.

The chassis numbers of the evo spec 288 are all known and the cars still accounted for even today.

First evo was chassis number 50253GT followed by 70167GT and 70205GT

So I guess based on numbers alone, 50253GT could well have been a very early 288 prototype? and the car that shed this 288 body hence the non production standard panels as it was this car that ferrari clothed themselves as an evo, the other two having the work carried out by Pininfarina.

I imagine back then if you had a relationship directly with Ferrari as Norwood seemed to have then the option to buy a few old, battered non production standard 288 panels from the scrap heap could have been possible.

PLEASE: NO "GT" suffix. NOT 50253 GT and NOT 70167 GT and NOT 70205 GT.
    Just 50253, 70167 and 70205.

    This.

So many folks here advocating that OP didn't go see the car. As soon as he determined parts of the advert were BS, misunderstanding or not, no one in their right mind would have felt obligated to go see the car in person. It makes no difference if they tried to make it right by finding the or right wheels or whatever. If OP thought it was shady from the minute things didn't look right, he was in his rights to do whatever he wanted, from low balling the **** out of Norwood or walking. End of story. For those of you who keep feeling there's something missing, read the thread from the beginning. The facts that make the OP in the right are not disputed by either side.

I just stumbled on this thread, i assume both parties are waiting for pay pal to decide what to do before going any further.i would hope that the OP get's his $2k back from somebody, somewhere.

Whatever happens in future,i have my trusty 10 ft barge pole on standby, and would certainly deploy it to navigate well clear of any troubled waters in future.

I do also rather like the idea of daytona 355's mate 'time bomb' though, red haired i suppose.LOL.

I would imagine i am not alone.

He's got brown hair, as he is from Edinburgh, rather than Glasgow, but I think you would feel safe if he is on your side regardless of the opposition! LOL

He's available, and being Scottish, will work for money, or deep fried mars bars and a dozen pints of lager!

Lovely bloke, but when he loses his temper, it is shocking and extremely dangerous to be within his reach, he's a nitemare!

Sorry, as an American, I don't get the humor here...please explain.

Paypal will refund this deposit and when it does, Norwood will look like an even bigger crook, IMHO. Why they don't refund the deposit willingly before the inevitable happens is beyond my comprehension. Save at least a little face guys, do the right thing...

In England, we always refer to the curious dietary choice you could get in shops in Scotland, particularly glasgow, the deep fried mars bar (- chocolate bar called a Milky Way in the US, which is deep fried), and in Glasgow, many more people are ginger haired than in the average place anywhere else!

See you jimmy is a catch phrase popularised by a comedian called Russ Abbott, who would dress in outrageous kilts and essential braveheart type costume, and display comic aggression and Scottishness on tv in the uk in the 80's, which I doubt ever aired in the US

If you look at the count for this thread, it's laughable that a few people here still think that Norwood's reputation won't suffer as a result of this thread.

Thanks also to Sid, couldn't have put it any better.

Charlie Endell was also a Scottish character in a sitcom in uk early 70's called 'Budgie',Budgie was Charlie's sidekick played by minor pop star Adam Faith violent gangsta type involved in all sorts of crime /pornography in London/Soho..then Charlie Endell got his own series a few years later.

I think Charlie once threatened to 'chop yer hands off Budgie' with a heavy Scottish accent when Budgie tried to cross him on a 'deal' ,it was a while ago so i don't remember the exact phrase hehe, but in those innocent days it was quite a shocker to young kids!

Hope the American equivalent doesn.t get called out in this case lol.

I had a dinner in a local restaurant with my girlfriend the other day. The food was great, the service was great. As usual. The nice atmosphere was somewhat polluted by two guests who had a list of complaints a mile long. AFTER they had eaten all of the courses. ALL of them. From the corner of my eye I saw the owner beïng able to control some 99,5 % of his frustration, staying friendly, negociating with the customer, giving in, making shure the atmosphere stayed enjoyable in the (rather small) dining room. Of course he realised, in a split second, the atmosphere is what really counted that moment. As was his reputation. He also realised the cost price of two dinners is almost two times nothing, figure of speech. He solved the matter by treating "difficult" customers as Customers, capital C. He even helped them with their coats, showed them to the door, opening it for them, wishing them (with a honest tone of voice) a pleasant rest of the evening.

I'm NOT saying the OP is a "difficult" customer, is right or wrong. I just saw a restaurant keeper/owner building/preserving his reputation, regardless of "how right" he (really) was.

It is not that hard to "give in", when the stakes are not high. I wouldn't call 2 grand small change, not at all, but it is peanuts when beïng able to confirm/preserve one's business reputation. Especially when the legitimacy of keeping the money is discutable in the first place.

You can't put a price on a smile, and/or on the rithm of your heartbeat. And if you cán, the amount is certainly nót 2000 dollars..

I don't disagree and the restaurant owner made the right judgement, but it is a sad world in which we live where those who make unjustifiable complaints get to eat free. It's a bit like the "if you don't give us a discount, we'll post a bad write-up on Tripadvisor" scam - the bad guys get away with it and the good guys pay up.

Exactly. A small business owner can do everything you mentioned above (doing the right thing) and still end up with a bad review. Sure he handled it properly in front of other customers, but .... In the end. .... Potentially and most likely a bad review. Yes ... Business exist to serve people and be paid, but pleasing EVERYONE is impossible and that is the person who will leave the scathing review ... Regardless how you handled it.

I do not place any value on Internet review sites. They are extremely one sided.

That said. Norwood should have given the deposit back.

Norwood has clearly lost the plot. An employee who shouldn't be customer-facing let alone the voice of the company on a problem customer and an attitude from the formerly-respected owner that speaks volumes. If he's this pissy over 2 grand what's he like when there is a real issue?
Over 18,000 views here and topping the Google search results. As was said earlier in this thread - a textbook case on how to bring a reputation crashing down around your own feet.

He would love it, but I reckon homeland security would struggle to let the guy in with his rather long record of disobedience and sudden bouts of violent disorder! Plus, he'd drink the plane dry in about half and hour and snore his way through the flight!

He was a bit of a liability, when I used to collect money for some of 'the chaps' it was all I had to say 'pay what you owe, time bombs round the corner' and most, except the stupidest or the toughest, paid without question and with speed to rival a card sharp! Once he went off, even his friends (and to listen to him, he loved me like a brother) had to move well out the way and let him go, he was like that Tasmanian devil cartoon, all flailing arms and claret (blood) until no one but him was still standing...... Damned nitemare

I hate the review sites too, but to counter them, I tend to make sure I leave a good review when I've had a satisfactory or better service at a business like a restaurant or hotel. I try to see the positives and respect the level of service that type of business should be expected to provide while reviewing (ie, if it's a three star hotel, don't expect it to be a five star service, you review it based on what a three star should be, hate it when someone reviews a sports bar as though they expected a Michelin starred service standard - they didn't pay Michelin money, why expect the service/quality)

    Wow, what a thread...

Fwiw, I once had to back out of a deal on a $75k deal which I had put a $1k deposit on and the dealership refunded the deposit on the spot. We parted ways with a handshake. I ran into the salesperson at a bar a few weeks later and bought him a round. It's not hard to establish or destroy a reputation.
