This F40 was taken into Sweden just weeks ago, bought from a collector in Portugal, 6,000 miles and perfect condition. Every year our authorities tests all cars that are older then 5 years. They test co lvls, brakes, lights, check tyres and bla bla. The last thing they do is a short testdrive, testing the horn and brakes.

Check the pictures after the idiot tester tried the F40. It´s so sad.

Basically it says he lost control over the car during the test ride...

Similar law we have in the Bahamas...

Fortunately the 330 and 275 get a pass with a box of chocolates.

I feel for the owner, our neighbor had something similar happen with his old Corniche here and had to send it back to Florida for repairs and pay import tax again when he brought it back... On sticker price nonetheless.

Time to tie the inspector to the rear of the car for a close inspection of the asphalt.

Very sad and simply unbelievable story. I am sure the owner's heart would look like that if one can see it. Terrible blow to his dream and passion. w/ s_____ Jimmy

Are you saying that the bureaucratic authorities damaged the Corniche and not only did your neighbour have to pay for repairs, but he then had to pay import tax (on sticker price no less) upon its return? Incredible!!!

looks to me like he was thinking this "Ferrari's gotta have traction control" or because I drive honda's and toyota's everyday I can surely handle a supercar...I'd sue him the government etc., the car is no longer perfect and untouched and regardless of who does the repair it will always be known now as the car that the jackass tester drove and smashed...remember it was all over the internet?....
Poor owner but hopefully he's got the dough to sue everyone that could have possibly been involved.

Elected officials and government employees are servants. They have no business behind the wheel of a citizen's car. Then again, they shouldn't be flying first/business class either but unfortunately they do.

Repaired or not, the car has been tainted. I definitely feel sorry for the owner.

In that case every non-sole proprietor is a servent to someone and has no business flying first/business class either.

Chit happens, that is why this profitable business called insurance exists. It really sucks for the owner, but this is not the first time something like that has happaned and it won't be the last. At least the owner is likly to have many more vehicles to provide personal transportation. Just think of the working class folks who have had their sole DD crashed/wrecked/distroyed during these types of road tests.

If my Swedish is good enough, I think to understand from the newspaper article that the F40 is owned by a car dealer (Von Braun Sportscars) and not yet by a new Swedish private owner.

    Ciao,

According what i have read on some Swedish forums the tyres were originals and the tarmack was wet, and the car was on delivery to the client of the dealer von Braun.

I have to turn the keys to mine ( not F40) over, for it's annual Texas Safety Inspection, they do indeed take it out on public streets to check the steering feel and brakes..

But even the teenagers at the ExxonMobil station exercise better care than THAT!

Sad to see, I'm sure 'someone' in the process will make it right.

My guys don't take it to the Track, just around the block, they haven't checked the air horn in years, although it started working the other day, for no apparent reason!
