I agree, although I find it a particularly weak defense. Anyway I just wanted to clarify that it's not my analogy, I'm just responding to gil308's analogy.

My real world is the world of the State and Federal court system (in the US) ;) where the burden of proof is on the accuser. Your Pinto analogy becomes different when the court of public appeal gets involved and put pressure on the car maker...but there were also studies that showed a flawed design. Why didn't other cars get that scrutiny? Because they didn't blow up.

Even on this forum, where certain rules apply and certain rules don't, I still think it's up to Kole to provide proof, not HC. That said, it's interesting to find out that the door panel is aluminum. A simple scratch would not likely require the door be replaced, but even a slight gouge might. We may never know...one of the great mysteries of life.

I have to say I would have thought Kole or HC would have posted a photo of the damage. I have had damage on my ferrari and taken legions of photos of it every time.

In the court of public opinion, there is no burden of proof. Sadly, reputations are damaged with nothing more than accusations. In the case of this thread, nobody wins. The best way to fight internet damage is simply to starve it of oxygen and let it fall off the page.

Not sure I agree. When HC's competition came forward saying they did not buy the OP, that clenched it for me.

They may be competition now, but they may have started as friends. The competition praised HC and has learned a lot from HC. It's not like they are bitter rivals. Remember, Intercity came on and praised HC as a company, but they have no knowledge of this particular situation. HC may have good character, but for me that's not what was in question.

In the money game sure as hell they are. I only had one compeditor when I was in business that I could ever say anything good about, and it killed me to say it but they ran a tight ship.

    kole's ban is over.

Just warning this thread likely has less than 24 hours life left. We'll let everyone get a few more words in and then we'll close. If any party has any new information to provide they can contact me offline for consideration to post.

    thanks.

The purpose of this thread was that I believed all here were true car lovers - whatever they might drive!

Information regarding the quality of transportation - which most of us have to do sometime - is important. That is why it is important to relate the story with clear names. This was done for the common good and in light of the saying "caveat emptor".

Here is some perspective, and this is not an attempt to boast but the facts. In the same month I purchased the special edition Land Rover, I also took delivery of my 458 italia. Is it really likely that I would waste my time complaining about a small scratch to mitigate a pass through transportation fee that would need to be paid anyway to the next vendor that brought the car up? Of course not, the motive was to let you all know was to be sure that all of you who transport their cars had some knowledge on which to base a decision for your future transportation needs.

As I have mentioned before, the real folk who should be compensated are LRSA, and they are to be praised for the dedication they showed to their product, and the wonderful customer service. They are the heroes in this situation.

In my view, it is simply wrong to damage someone's property, admit to it in writing on a blog, and then neither call the person, offer an apology, or make an offer of restitution? If this happened to any of you, I am sure none of you would be happy regardless of how many inches or centimeters of damage was actually in question, or whether or not you had the resources to absorb the loss and fix it yourself. Does anyone really want to deal with a company like this regardless of whether or not someone provides an endorsement for "Uncle Frank"?

As for the rest...thanks to those of you who saw most clearly...we shall see if at any time the "unmentioned" applies or is accepted to become a sponsor of this site - this is not an insinuation.

I suppose it is left to all to decide whether or not you wish to do business (or even risk it) with anyone who spends anytime on a blog trying to rag a customer rather than doing the right thing - indeed the only thing - apologize for a mistake and fix the problem!

Waitasec ... what blog does HC have? I can't imagine why they'd post that they damaged someone's car?

Maybe, but only if the owner of the car puts them there off-roading, not some transport company...

Please I hope Kole has found some peace over this, as there is not much good coming out of this. Since a few members have voiced that they will never do business with HC again or in the future, Kole has succeded in his quest at tilting windmills. Im sure HC has lost more money than the repairs would have been in lost revenue and reputation over this and thats a shame. Please let this go and close this thread. Thankyou Norm

oh ok. FChat is a forum, not a blog. A blog is something entirely different.

Why is it a bad thing to alert others to poor service?

I wish more people did it, so we can learn from others' mistakes. You don't have enough years in your life to make all the mistakes.

As others have mentioned, damage sometimes happens during transport. That's not the problem. The problem is when the customer service is unresponsive after the fact.

We all can make up our own minds, and it is important that the info is released, but censoring is a bad idea.

I hope people chime up when they get bad service like this in the future. I will.

I also hope other business owners will take a look at the costs of poor customer service in the Internet Age.

I see your point. And, the thread has gotten almost 10K views so it has reached a reasonable number of eyeballs...

Burying a thread early is a disservice to the community. I agree it has done its broadcasting.
