hmmmm - I THOUGHT that this was the Lambo section - with so many F guys here, I guess the F part of the site must be pretty dull, huh - I actually enjoy going there sometimes - but this paranoia - behind that tree is the Evil Allan - look, behind that bush, it's the dreaded Mako - run run Chicken Little the sky is fallin' - Clax - don't waste your time trying to 'argue/discuss' with "atheyg/Jeff" - he'll run crying to Rob to lock the thread - since ya'll are SOOOOOOOOP paranoid - here's a Xmas card from Allan, Mako, and all the other Grinches - ~T~ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Costs, emissions, and that engine had gone as far as it could, from the 308 all the way to the 360. It was inevitable, and the Gallardo presumably forced them to make it even better in every way, not just HP and TQ. My position is that there's more to the picture than HP and TQ, especially for a car as aesthetically stunning and dynamically capable as the Gallardo. Perhaps a RWD with some slick Le Mans based suspension, or some even more chic interior, like the DB9's. My point is that this car should be flying off the showroom floor. I, for one, don't understand why. I'm sure the convertible will fly out the door. Between VW and Lambo they should be able to make the coupe fly out the door with or without 600 horses. Forza, Cavallini
I like the way it's an 'Audi' Lambo but to the tifosi on F-Chat the F430 is never going to be a Maserati powered Ferrari. Mere coincidence that they share the same block and internals. Double standards?
I don't care if the Gallardo gets 600 hp or not. It's still not an aggressive over the top mean bad boy machine that Lamborghini is used to building in my opinion. V10 not V12. Hearing it referred to as the "baby Lambo" doesn't help much either. When I think of "baby" anything I think of "cute" and these two words should never be used in the same context or when referring to a Lamborghini. My biggest problem though is those damn conventional doors. Hey in my mind and in a whole lot of others, if the doors don't go up its not a Lamborghini. I remember seeing a the Gallardo at Concorso two years back. It didn't make much of a statement at all. I think a used Diablo is a much better value and makes much more of a dynamic statement. That's why I put one on my Xmas shopping list. Long live the Diablo!!!
James Refering to it's connection with Audi is hardly an insult. The Audi RS8 is one of the greatest Sports Racing ever built and is likely to come in first OA. again at Le Mans next June. Never forget what Karl Marx said in "Das Kapital" "In the end there will be one Company..." Best
You Sir have no clue what you're talking about. The R-GT is a new car, only a fool would think it would win in it's first year of release. If you really think that 550's slaughter it on the track, you are gravely mistaken. The first FIA GT race the Murcielago R-GT entered, it came in 3rd place, well ahead in lap times than most of the (3 years+ amount of development) 550's, 360's and what have you. Obviously you're not up to date with the FIA series. Plus, most of the time it outlapped the 550 in the Michelin tire testing on tires made for front engined race cars. With the same amount of R&D, you can bet that the R-GT will destroy a 550, and give the MC12 a really hard time. Please in the future check your facts before you go running your mouth. It makes you look bad. I'm not pro Lambo either, I like all fast cars.
Who the **** are you to come in to this community and begin to badmouth one of our most respected enthusiasts with your very first post? Is that the way you think you can garner any respect for your opinion ? You haven't even filled out your profile. Maybe you have a point to make, and maybe you're even right, but you don't come into a new community and begin insulting members of that community. This gentleman you have grandly insulted has done more to promote the Ferrari marque than you'll ever know and he has endlessly promoted and shared his enthusiasm with this entire community. You are the one who looks bad here.
Its okay lik is either Mako or A Lamblo, they have just gotten some new IP changer software that changes their IP so they look like different users, they are all over FChat with different user IDs since lamblowpowered is so dead, they finally have someone to talk to and are very excited about it. Ip changer works good huh?
Jim, I've maybe not explained myself too well. When ever this topic gets a little heated a few like to refer to the newer Lamborghini as an Italian Audi hinting that the roots of the newer model aren't from Lamborghini and thus some of it's uniqueness is lost. Now it so happens that economies of scale dictate that the Maserati V8 is to be used in the F430 and I haven't yet seen anyone on the board saying they wished the cheaper brand Maserati wasn't providing the heart and soul of the more expensive brand Ferrari. It wasn't that long ago when the Biturbo was the best Maserati could do and reliability-wise that motor was plain spooky. In years to come where will Maserati and Ferrari be? Plenty here also tear strips off Porsche for the Cayene and what they perceive as a dilution of the brand but don't say much about the F430 powerplant or the Enzo/MC 12 tieup. What's good for Maserati can't also be good for Ferrari from an image point of view IMHO.
$'s. EX Shah of Iran. Real Jota. Finest one on the planet. That's my prediction. (Been wrong before I remember when I couldn't get my Dad to spring for $6500 for a 250 GTO with a trailer thrown in I told him: "One day that car will sell for $100,000!)
Jim As I own a Turbo Cayenne and will get a MC12 if they make it US legal maybe I'm the wrong guy to answer your question. Best
I wasn't trying to offend anyone, sorry if it came off that way. I just wanted throw my 2 cents in just like everyone else in this thread. It seems a waste of time to do that. Oh well, no harm intended.
Lik On the site where you refer to me as "jerkoff" I believe it was Alan himself that started the thread about the Murcie GTR's withdrawal from ALMS. (In that series the GTR was somewhat less than stellar) The third place showing you refer to in the GTR's first FIA outing, behind two MC-12's and ahead of the 550's which none the less did some how manage to win the Championship, was alas it's finest moment to date. Subsiquent FIA races were not quite podium event's for Lambo. http://www.fiagt.com/results.php
I'm missing something here, what is it about these two cars that makes them obsolete, besides the 430 which will outperfom a 360? The 575M was not a dramatic makeover of the 550, so what is it about this car that makes it rank so poorly on the exotic scale? Could you explain? Sunny
I guess we need someone behind the scenes to give us the true story on when the Gallardo was first penned and the concept and engineering took place, pre or post Audi ownership to really answer why we call them Audi Lambo's. No different than Ford Jaguars. Besides, the Aston DB7 uses a Jaguar block but we don't call that engine a Jaguar engine, now do we? Its absurd calling an Aston Martin a Ford too.
Well The V8 Jag block is a Ford,,with a Ford transmission..So really, both cars have Ford engines in them...how do ya like them apple's?
