    The Bradford Pear was removed today & it is hot as Hell in the driveway w/out it. I thought I was in Death Valley when I pulled up after work & got out. It was scorching! What is a good fast growing shade tree for me? SE Georgia.

    Bradford Pear is the best for growth and shade coverage.

    Disposable trees. Grow fast, nice shape, pretty flowers, but in a strong wind they split and fall apart.

    My tree guy put in a ClevelandPear for us[it's a newer/better Bradford version:Holmford iirc]...it still has a fast growth rate but is less prone to breakage but still it's a weak wood ... A Red Maple is a thought too ...
    And like Uro said earlier a Crabapple might be a good choice ...
    Good luck ... you can't pay enuff for shade,rite?

    90% Humidity?!??!?!? Reminds me of Fts Benning and Gordon. :eek:

    I'll stick with the Sahara and 61+ degrees C (142 degrees F) with 25% AND its going to rain ........ Thanx. ;)
