I just got back from Maui. Are there any Ferrari's on Maui? It seems like there's not a lot of place to drive one, or at least that was my impression. The good roads are pretty full of people shuffling around at 45 in their rental cars.

45 is actually getting pretty fast. There's only a couple places on the Big island where you can get to 50 or 55 legally. 35 is the norm. At rush hour.....forget about it.

Dont tell the cops but I was following a red Saleen Mustang a few weeks ago and we were in my 500E doing 128 for at least 7 miles on the south side of the island on the 11 between Volcano and Pahala... What a blast!

If you were caught that would probably be jail time........unless the officer was the son of the mayor of Hilo who's dad was a long time sugar cane grower who knew everybody on the island, and you were a freind of the family.......and had some Hawaiian blood.

I dont live there but the roads to the upcountry runs above Makawao seem very supportive, not to mention the canopy laden twisty connection to the ocean view highway. The flat land has some good wide open spaces to access adrenalin too! I think its like living in Los Angeles...if you want to "drive" the roads you need to get up before the masses. I envy the roads they have when I visit there.

I don't live there but when I visit I see more opportunities for spirited driving than Oahu. The Hilo to the Volcano park run is big and grand with few cars and then there is the park itself! I am sure I would find ways to enjoy the long run down to the petroglyph fields and lava. I am sure there are times when it's "safe" to "get some". Toward South Point on the other side is nice too as Mark has mentioned. Sure the crowded parts suck but once you know the passing zones and the tempo of the place I'll just bet it's a blast to drive there!
