Just curious what kind of work various people have planned? Turbos, suspension work, Chevy small block installs? :D

Here's my list on my 328:

    Category 0, already done
Well, not much really. GTB louver mod, Stebro resonator (currently removed for emission testing this week).

Category 1, probably in the next year
Suspension work: New shocks/springs, upgraded bushings, and maybe a quick-ratio steering rack if they're ever out of backorder. Work on the AC and get it to really cool the car (Vintage Air components come to mind).

Category 2, next few years if I get motivated
Engine: EFI, maybe Mark's supercharger kit if it's available then. Exhaust, but probably custom rolled at a friend's shop.

Category 3, only if I win the lottery :D
You all remember that Blackhorse 308/355 conversion? :D

    1) sell the GTB

    2) buy a carb Boxer

    3) get rid of the crappy points ignition on the Boxer

    4) get better wheels / tires / exhaust for the Boxer

Today's project as previous post. Workmanship/fit is quite good. Pretty inexpensive mod and obviously easy to do. Of course, now must be EXTRA careful not to drop a nut down the carb.
On just a quick test spin, it does feel as if it's spinning faster above 5K. It's like it gets faster, faster - i.e the accell rate is noticibly improved seat of the pants up high with perhaps a little throttle response lost however in the 2500 - 3500 range (air column velocity?).
Will try to dyno sometime, although Durable1 has a pre/post dyno that kinda confirms a top end improvement, which is what you would expect anyway with shorter velocity stacks.
Hope this is interesting to some; more later if anyone's interested.

    Russ,
I would be very interested to see a dyno sheet on those! I have been considering getting a set. Did you rejet for them? Kermit suggests going up a main jet size for them.

I think I disagree with Kermit on the jetting recommendation, and would only recommend to go up a size if you haven't already - which I would probably recommend going up a size for the stock air horns anyway. Certainly NO greater than 135 or 140 with a stock airbox.

THIS IS NOT MY DYNO SHEET but a copy of Durable 1's pre/post dyno from the website. I assume no responsibility for accuracy here, but looks about right.

excellent info here, i went to the individual aircleaners and have been wanting to go with 135 mains. adding these airhorns should be a real plus !!!!! great thread!

I have a set of the Low Pro V-stacks myself but before installing them I am removing my emissions style airbox with intake damper/flap and installing a box off of a burned out pre-emissions '76.

I have removed all of the perforated metal screening and fiberglass sound deadener from the inside of it and extended the intake snout to the original length of the emissions box. The inside bore of the snout is now double what the emissions box was.

The smallest crossection in the intake tract now is the side-of-body opening and the rubber bellows. I would like to find a smooth bore bellows to top off the project.

Because my car has 125 main jets (stock I assume) I am going to go ahead and install 135's because I am increasing the breathing with the Low Pro stacks and the higher flowing airbox. I will be using a Baldwin airfilter. I believe stock pre-emissions jets were 130's.

If the car runs well after the mods I will have it dynoed on March 12th.

Last years dyno was 176.5 RWHP with 125 jets, ANSA exhaust, no cats, stock airbox and filter.

I would be VERY happy to get 10 more HP out of this.

    In no particular order:

    Chips and air filters - thinking about the BMC air filter set up;
    Brembos front and rear.
    19" wheels/tires.

Gotta do something about the interior at some point. Haven't decided yet.

Also intrigued by the 6-speed conversion, but then thinking if I would go to that effort why not stuff the whole 355 box and dice back there...

    Cheers

A lot on the plate with building a new house so this year I'll just focus on solving an anoying EFI clich that comes and goes and drive it...and try to get EFI and blower kits worked out and the market through a 3rd party.

Over the winter maybe get the AC back on line, I've got a few vintage air parts sitting on the shelf that I think will help.

It looks like the brakes will have to wait until the following year, but we'll see how time goes.

After the brakes, it should finally be time for new paint....I figure 5 years and $20k or so and the car will be pretty nice :)

    Russ,
I will be very interested in seeing your dyno results from this change, as well as any changes in the A/F ratio.
