After being a NJ guy for most of my life my wife, kids and I are moving to the Houston area where she is from. I must admit the idea of a snow free winter is appealing!

I am excited to get to one of your Cars and Croissants events. Did I read one post correctly that there were 1,400 cars at one event??

I am also looking for my next career move. My experience has been trading fixed income, fx and equities. I am open to anything challenging and rewarding. PM me and I can shoot over a resume.

    Thanks....

I hear the summers aint fun!

Hell, we had more than a few summer days over 90 up here in Jersey this year... and it will be damn cold come December! Worst of both worlds???

I know, I know.... Houston has 90 days a year over 90.... wow!

It cooled off today, into the upper 90s......

Yep, Cars and Coffe now tops 1400 cars every time, dealer support from FoH and Lambo too.

I use a great guy with Ameriprise.......and of course Fidelity has a nice branch in River Oaks, across from Franco Valobras jewelry store!

    Welcome Bill.

Just a word of warning.....don't be caught off guard when complete strangers pass by and say hello.;):)

My dad moved from NJ when he was a kid, but went back for summers and he still doesn't care for NJ to this day. :p

Enjoy the move Bill! I moved from NJ in 2009 and it's taken some getting used to. Miss the change of seasons, but it's nice to not have the snow anymore. And like the other post had said, most of the people are much nicer. As far as their ability to drive, the jury is still out. LOL. But they'd say that about us too. It gets a little hot but it's a great place to live.

Still trying to get used to the way they talk. But they all make fun of the way I say "water" and "coffee". You'll definitely get an eye full at Coffee and Cars. Have taken my car there a few times when I want to get up early enough to get a parking spot.

Good luck and welcome! And no worries, you can still say "How you doin'?" and don't have to use the word y'all. I haven't yet.

For those of you transplanting to Texas, here's a tip: the plural of y'all is all y'all.

It's off of 249/Louetta. Vintage Park I believe is the center.

I'd like to thank y'all for the warm
    welcome!

I definitely want to bring my restored / slightly modified 1974 Jeep CJ5 to C & C. The inspiration for my engine compartment was the clean and simple look of a 1950's Ferrari engine...

Are any of you into mountain biking? Looking to do some riding!

No mountains here in 'Sin City' Bill but we have miles of biking trails that satisfy most and I actually live within spitting distance of a 3500 acre park with miles of paved and unpaved trails.

I don't bike, but there are A LOT of bikers in Houston, road and mountain.

Your first stop will have to be to Memorial Park. Lots of trails there. Rode some back in high school and they can be kinda dangerous. Which I'm sure is what you're looking for.;):D

Don't worry, and don't think we haven't noticed. There is a database where we keep records of people who don't use "Y'ALL". If a couple of men come to you in Wranglers, boots, and cowboy hats, its best if you just go with them. LOL

Welcome to Houston Bill. Yes it gets unbearably hot at times, mostly between May and October. The other months are nice, although you will laugh at our winters. Lots of car events, nice people, great food, and lots to do. Safe moving! Oh and great auto detailers ;)
