Not knowing how complex the rear end is on a 355, once I knew what I was doing...I think it would take me 45 minutes or less per side on my 308. So, 6 hours for a professional shop with a lift....that's steep.

Don't dealers go by the book on the quoted time rate? I would not be surprised if that is the recommendation.

That being said, I remember looking at the shocks as I pulled the half shaft out of my 355 (torn CV boot) and thinking "wow, this thing is easy to work on. I sure won't need someone else to replace the shocks." I think first try I could beat 6 hours for both, including clean up and beer.

It just depends if you are a DIY or not.

The first time I R&R'ed and rebuilt my alternator, it took me 3-4 hours. Over the weekend I had to swap out a small connector inside and it was just over an hour from start to having the tools put away. It really speeds things up to know what you're doing! An experienced pro should be able to beat the "book time" unless there are unforseen problems. If I was quoted 6 hours for shocks I'd get a second opinion for sure!

I already done it on mine because of leak, it take about 30 min per side but I did not separate all parts (sprigs rings...)This time is to remove one and put another complete one.
If you seperate all parts I would say for a good mechanic 1 Hour per side ?

Shouldn't be charged for more than 3 hours at a competent shop with a lift. Do it yourself time might only be less than 2 hours.
