Parents moving to Dallas area. Value ferrari owners opinion on great locations to live in the area. Looking to buy in the 300s to 600s price range. Where is the best area to live. Within area to office in Addison. Where would you move to? Thanks for your help!

    need more information...

    any school aged children?
    size expectation? amenities?
    acceptable commute time?

how do you define "best area to live?" crime rate? median income? $ per sq foot?

I think many of us really like the areas we live in for different reasons. Getting more details will help us give you better advice on what your parents are looking for.

$300-$600k will get you a lot of sq. footage in one neighborhood and a lot the size of a postage stamp in another

And there are some lovely areas in Addison to live, also. Consider those, too.

Oaks North in Addison should be in the price range you've indicated. It's located on the south side of Belt Line Road between Montfort and Preston. Good Luck.

If schools are important Southlake is hard to beat. $/ sq ft is much better than N Dal as well.Big lots too. If you want a more urban environment, no kids or private schooled ;N Dal / Addison is great.

Don't forget about Preston Hollow ( North of Northwest Hwy, West of Hillcrest, South of Royal, East of Dallas North Tollway )

That area is in the "upgrade" phase... alot of the homes are already upgraded/updated. Property values seem to be rising as well.. a good time to jump on the wagon.

Then, it's a 6-11 min. drive North on the Tollway to the Beltline exit, you're in Addison.

Oh, I almost forgot, there are several homes South of Beltline, East of the Dallas North Tollway ( off Montfort ) Celestial ( sp ) Park area... that's a unknow jewel of an area.

< shrug > my .02 worth of rambling..

Need many more details. $600k will get you 1,200 sq. ft. high rise condo downtown, townhome in Addison, big 4,500 sq. ft. zero lot house in Plano, 3,500 sq. ft. home with 1 acre in Southlake, or 5-10 acres and ranch house/barn in Justin/Haslett.

I recommend Southlake 100% if you have kids (I don't) and don't work in Dallas (I do). Darn, I messed up. :D

I almost bought a high rise condo downtown last week, but parking the cars were an issue along with the homeless people wandering around. After going there on Friday nite and looking around I nixed it. I think downtown will be a good investment long term, but I didn't want to get mugged during the process.
