Hi any events or nice places to drive to in the Houston area during the holidays ?? I hope everyone has a safe holiday and a fun 2012 "if it flies, floats or Ferrari's....use it !!!!" lol, ed
Hi Ed, You just missed my Toys for Tots party last Thursday BUT there will be a very good party on Dec 22 at Mo's on Post Oak. It is the annual holiday party and a great crowd. A few fellow Fchatters may be in attendance as well and it's a fun time! (They do it every year and it's one of my favorite events) I will PM you my email and phone if you'd like to attend.
my daughter will be flying into town Dec 22 maybe I can attend the next event in the Houston area, ed
ed, you and the wife will just need to drive that 355 in to town for dinner. i will drag mine out with the wife and meet you somewhere. barry
If your daughter is over 21 bring her to Mo's. Actually since it is a restaurant, kids are welcome as well. We had a few kids at the Toys for Tots party.
Holiday Party at Mo's on Dec 22. 1801 Post Oak. 7 until 1 am. No invite needed, just come and have fun.
Well, looking at my desk blotter, Lyle Lovett on 12/21 at Verizon Two Tons of Steel 12/20 at Gruene Hall, Christmas Show!! The above mentioned Party at Mo's Post Oak on 12/22 I have my company dinner that evening though and it is south of town at Cullens Johhny Falstaff at Blanco's that night Dale Watson at Blancos Friday 12/23 Christmas Day Robert Earl Keen at House of Blues 12/28 Mike Stinson at Blancos 12/29 Cornell Hurd at Blanco's 12/30 New Years Eve the Romeo Dogs play at The Spot on West 18th and Ella Cody Canada and the Departed are at Gruene Hall
James McMurtry at the Mucky Duck tonight, Tuesday 12/27....."don't expect Christmas songs"...LOL! There, that fills out the week! I made it by Saint Arnolds last Saturday, man THAT was some bad weather! Ferrari ran well though, needs more defroster.
I was in town for a couple of days but way busy with family plans. Alan, PM me your new number, I'll be back down there soon. BTW, check out Brasserie 19 on West Grey, I had fantastic Christmas Eve dinner there.
The old Tony Mandola's location...I have heard good things about it! Tony Mandola's moved to a new location around the corner, it's glam!! Not sure I can afford either place bruddah!
I just wanted to add the Art Car Glowarama 12/31 to the list. It kicks off at Discovery Green at 8:00PM with all the wackiness. As that is early I might steal Valeria's Christmas lights from the shubbery and roll on down for awhile in the Ferrari. The take a cruise and then after party down at Christain's Tailgate, on White Oak. I'll be at The Spot, with the Romeo Dogs playing that night.
Well, a last minute check shows all KINDs of live shows added! The Mastersons.....Eleanor Whitmore and her husband at the Mucky Duck Thursday at 7:30 is a great duo, back to Texas from their new home in Brooklyn. She played with Kelly Willis, before going solo. Friday night I'll be at the Big Easy for Tommy Dardar, free tickets won on KPFT.FM, but otherwise it would be hard to miss my old friends from San Antonio Two Tons of Steel, twanging up the rockabilly at the Mona Lisa Bar at Hotel Sorella on the west side, at City Center...might have to do Two Tons early, and then hit the Big Easy at midnight or so...last call at the Big Easy is 2AM, so the last set is always cookin'!!! Delbert McClinton is the headline act at Discovery Green Saturday night, he's always kissing on Valeria and trying to get in her pants. Pretty active for a 71 year old guy! Dallas R&B at it's finest...I like Delbert, just not enough to "share".... Norma Zenteno brings her smokin' HOT jazz heritage to bear in her rock band Saturday night, again at Monalisa Bar at Hotel Sorella...this is a NICE small club venue, and if you get too wasted, the rooms upstairs are a quick elevator ride away. Might make a great Date Night.
Looks like the Cornell Hurd show at Blancos has been moved to 1/13 Clay Farmer will be there Friday 12/30 Clay is a great singer/songwriter, always a good dancable show! And handsome, for you ladies listening....LOL!
