I printed the write-up about the ALMS' Lone Star Grand Prix off the ALMS site today. Already made hotel reservations before the cost goes sky-high. This will definitely get us geared up for the adventure ahead the next month in Le Mans. Can't wait to see the #35 MC12 in action - have seen it "up close and personal" on static display but anxious to hear it and see it move. Carol
Glad to see it's not downtown & closer to my sister's home. Ahh, nothing like a free place to stay for an event like this.
Ahem, the original downtown course was specially surfaced with high performance asphalt coatings, after the concrete was ground smooth to remove the center crown. This track will route thru the PARKING LOTS and sidewalks where the Rodeo and football events are held.....shades of the F1 Las Vegas days, if you ask me. I can envision a Champ Car crashing out on an old corn dog wrapper, or a BBQ rib bone left over from the World's Largest Cook Off........ROTFLMAO! Naw, this'll be great..being a night race maybe I can get a gig changing light bulbs, or somethin'! Close to my birthday, so we'll throw at Big Bash at the top secret Race Shop......everyone invited! We'll light off some burn out contests towards the Hare Krishna Temple......
Problem with the old course was the length, they were shooting for 1.6 miles (this one is 1.7, you'll note), but when they actually finished it and lasered it. they only had 1.56 or so...making it THE SHORTEST CART event, lengthwise.... THAT didn't go over so well...you know how Texans are.......

Maybe even a dumber question: Anybody know what's the situation on sponsorship/ticket packages in Houston and who's in charge? We have several businesses there and might be interested. I know we've bought ticket/sponsor packages for F1 in Bahrain for our business operations in the Gulf region and they have turned out to be very good client opportunities.
Of course this is right during exams. Hmm, maybe I will have to schedule them earlier so that I can watch from 11-13.
