That would have been nice. I did stop not too far from St. Louis for the night. It would have been a blast to spend the night at an FChat B&B :)

    Next time....................

Let's take a look at your fans, they may be packing up with age, RPM wise.......

Also we'll inspect the foam seals on the hood and around the radiator, it's about time after 20 years, for them to turn to dust.

The direction of the airflow thru the compartment is critical to the heat exchange across the radiator.

Welcome back home, that's a great picture of your Dad smiling........WAY TO GO!

When I was redoing the cooling system I pulled the rad and had it rodded and pressure tested. It was about 20% blocked, and cleaned up quite nicely. While I was taking that out I took LOTS of pictures, none of which show any form of foam. I suspect that may indeed be an issue. I'll take a look through the parts books and see if I can figure out where they should be and then build foam blocks to taste.

On the fan front I was able to rebuild one fan, the other had a galled bushing and a broken case so I just replaced it with a new one from Superformance. They both fire up on cue when the temp gets close to 190F. The one on the pass side fires up when the A/C is activated.

That is a good pic of Dad eh!! Happy days................

Money doesn't buy a smile like that. Good trip.

My Dad had a trip in my Mondial, but still prefers his model A. He's a bit younger at 70.

This is one of my favorite threads. I'm glad to see that the trip worked out so well, and I would love to have been closer to your route, to see you and your car in person.

Paul, glad you and the mrs made it back home safe and sound.

great seeing the mileage on the clock -

to everyone that sees a few of these pictures of the color on this particular 308 - you are not getting the true experience, it looks much more rich in person. At sunset the car color is a nice deep fullbodied color ... in the sun and daylight has a much softer lighter tone... truly a pretty color , and stunning on the body style of the tiny 308 ... not many ferrari's would be able to pull off this color.... and the brown dash is so sweet.

Paul, love your ride, enjoy it in good health, and it was an homor to meet your dad and chat up with him about cars - his smile in the parking lot was epic. Whenever your in town, let us know, glad to get out again - Cheers !

I think this has been my favorite F'Chat thread ever! Driving 4,000 miles to get a photo of your dad smiling is cool beyond comprehension. In decades to come, I'll bet this is one of your all-time favorite memories.
