    Hey Houston Gang,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say hello and invite you to stop out and say hello at the new karting circuit at MSR -Qwik Liner Kart Track (www.msrkarting.com). I am just in town briefly (until next monday) before I head back to England to continue my full on assault of Formula 1.

If you haven't been out to the track yet it is quite a good one, in my opinion the best in Texas. It is a competition prepared kart (no bumpers/walls everywhere), 8-tenths of a mile and depending on what kind of racing you watch has a NASCAR or as I like to call it 18' banked Monza corner. The circuit has a nice mix corners which requires a delicate balance on the setup of a competition kart to turn a good lap time. They have a fleet of Italian manufactured CRG karts here with 9hp Honda engines that will do 45 miles per hour. The thing thats quite cool is that they have cadet karts for kids too so those of you who have little people can bring them out as well. I think 5 is the youngest that can drive.

If any of you are around and want to drop by and say hello I will be at the circuit, either in the karting office, or on the circuit. If any of you want to come by and try out the new circuit you are more than welcome, additionally for any f-chatters that stop by I am happy to provide personal tuition if you are keen to know the speed secrets so you can come back and smoke your friends later on your 'first time to the track.'

    Cheers

    Michael Johnson

Hey Michael. How's everything going over there?

Wish I could go out there. Would be a lot of fun.

I'm checking out the website, looks like a lot of fun. My friends and I have been wanting to go carting for a while, just no time. I'll pass the site around to them and hopefully hit it up some time later in the year.

I do have a question regarding the prices. I see it's $30 for 1-15 minute session, $100 for 4-15 minute sessions.

I'm assuming that it's that flat fee. But if you want to step up to the Competition Karts then it's that price, but you also have to pay a Concession fee, as well as the Competition license?

I took my girlfriend a month ago. I bought her one of the experiences where she was able to ride shotgun in their nascar for 4 laps. She loves nascar so she really loved that. After the laps we went for 15 min on the go kart track. That is a bad a$$ track. Waaaayyyy better than an indoor track. Very fun and 15 min is a long time on those things. They were telling us if you get 12 people they will do it for 70 a person and you get 45 min. They will do 15 of practice and then break, 15 more of qualifying (someone takes times) then break, and then 15 min of racing where you line up how you qualified. Definetely worth the 70.
Also I'm not sure how it works but you either take a corse or keep riding the concesion karts for a period of time and then they will let you move up to the 2 speed karts.........but you have to give them your credit card cause if you break it YOU fix it. They are a lot faster(80mph I think) but it would scare the hell out of me and I might ramp off the bank and have to drop 5k+
