This is just an idea. How about a caravan of exotics this summer in northern Colorado and southern Wyominng? There's no people, no highway patrol and great, empty roads. For all you front range folks, I'd suggest that you consider heading north to Cheyenne and/or Laramie (on either I-25 or 287). And in Laramie, take 130 to Centennial and Saratoga--over one of the best kept secrets in alpine driving in America. South of Saratoga, the road goes to Walden. And Steamboat is only an hour from there. And beyond Steamboat, on US 40, is a great road to Craig and then another road south to I-70 at Rifle. From Rifle, taking I-70 back to Glenwood Springs, Aspen and Independence Pass would be awesome. Then, from there, it's a couple hours back to Denver. I'd suggest meeting in Laramie on a Friday night and overnighting there. Then a morning departure to lunch in Saratoga; Shopping and dinner in Steamboat and stay Saturday night in Craig or Rifle. Sunday would be a day to hit Glenwood Springs, Aspen, Independence Pass and go home! If anyone's interested, let's start a thread here. John
I like the idea.. but how about having a meeting time in the morning in laramie say 8 or 9am.. So folks from fort collins can just drive up!
I have always wanted to do the Cameron Pass run from Ft. Collins up to Steamboat. We routinely hit 90+ in my grandma's 66 Chevy Belair across North Park, I can't wait to get the Ferrari up there. Thus, perhaps a 2 day rally would work well? We will be in Centennial this weekend for skiing and snowmobiling Mark
