For those of us who have the Velocity Channel on our TV's 24/7 to catch Wheeler Dealers or Chasing Classic Cars, or What's My Car Worth, or??? That car show Gary mentioned, sponsored by the world's largest online automobile car-care supplier, AutoGeek, brought out to the show Wayne Carini, Denis Gage, Barry Meguiar, Chris Jacobs, Ray Evernham, AJ Janic, etc. right in our backyard of Stuart, Florida. And yes, there were only 3 Ferraris present, including Gary's - the other 2 consisted of a yellow 512 TR and BB 512. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Al....I think we could get 3, 4 or 5 of our cars together at some point in time...maybe somewhere in the middle of the state ? Gary
Good idea. I have to get mine back on the road first! Waiting for the rebuilt master cylinder and brake booster to be returned from California. Al
Same here, Al.....brakes & suspension are on the list of things I need to do....I do drive it locally, just not ready for a road trip yet. We should definitely get together sometime.....Gary

Lovely looking car George - how come it was sleeping for 3 years ? I love the Cotswolds. It looks like I'm doing some kind of classic car run there April 10th with Howard (Squidmark). He's already done this event before in his (now sold) 365 so we aren't taking mine. Looks like we'll be using one of my Cadillacs this time, either the 1941 or one of the 1953's. Where about in London are you based ?
Good morning Russel , The 400i is my fathers car which he has owned since 1983 and was for many years his daily driver on his commute to work from Borehamwood Wood , just north of London to Kings Cross. It has sat in his garage at home as the pressures of family and work meant he just didn't get around to using it at all but now things have settled down its back in use including a trip to Ireland and back just for fun!! We will be back at Broadway in the Cotswolds for another days clay pigeon shooting on 16 April , hopefully with 400i . I am in North London ( Barnet) area . Here's a photo of the old girl with her younger sister ..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Attached are pictures of my car taken at SteelStacks (the old Bethlehem Steel plant now being recycled) last year. I am not confident about loading pictures, so I hope these comeout OK. The Tucker in the background of picture 1 is a custom with a twin-turbo Northstar in the back. The wheels as shown are T Rutlands 16" reproductions with Hill Engineering spacers and Yokohama 225/60 AVID Envigor 98H tires mounted 10/13 with about 7000 miles. I have gone back to TRX tires for showing, so these are for sale. Please PM me if interested. I guess this is the best color to avoid a redye and keep that nice patina look good just with leather food to keep it soft. Beautiful!
John, beautiful car, congrats! Would you mind posting some more pics of the interior? As others have said, lovely patina! Cheers! Ruben
John, This must be one of the nicest aged interiors I've seen. Never seen that interior color on a 400 either - originally dark brown or bordeaux ? It looks lovely in its current state either way. Nurish it with leather food and keep it Mine were originally Saddle 3218 but sun and age transformed it into a faded yellowish color. Not what can be regarded as aging with style. They were recently redyed back to original finish. I would never have considered that with Your interior.
I've been applying Leatherique in the late spring, after the temperature warms up, and that's it. I'll post a few more pictures tomorrow. The original owner imported the car through Amerispec, and it is probably the one tested by Pat Bedard in CAR AND DRIVER 12/82 (C/D didn't keep serial numbers on tested cars then, or so they told me). It was in the Southeast until I bought it (I am the second owner) from Motorcar Gallery in May 2012 with about 57,000 miles. It now has 70,000. I don't actually know the color (they advertised it as grey with red). My paint code sticker is illegible, and I don't know where to look for the interior color. Any hints would be appreciated. The interior is probably red because it is blushing from all your nice words!
I tried two different cameras to get a reasonably accurate color, to no avail. The color of the sun-exposed areas is very close to what shows on the interior shot I first posted. These do show the big difference between those and areas less exposed. The less exposed are a very "lipsticky" color (see lower area at the front of the doors). Also note the patch on the passenger side of the dash. Motorcar did this to repair a sun-split, and even at shows no one has remarked on it. The car actually won gold in its class at the FCA Concours at Simeone last year. Finally, you can also see the "scallop" or indentation on the doors mentioned on another thread. I am computer illiterate, so I have no idea why these pictures have turned 90 degrees when I attach them to this message. Hopefully you can turn your screen. The car is a wonderful but never-ending project. The first spring thing will be the leather.
