Hi, So many of you have emailed me asking for some more pictures of my 400i, Daytona conversion, and especially the front end, that I thought I should post a few. I've just made a new Plexi panel (laser etched and cut) and have the bonnet off at the moment cutting down the lip height at the base of the screen and making new diamond quilted heat sheilds. (The bonnet is a Southern Roadcraft and had a really high turn up at the base of the screen) In the quest to make the car better proportioned I'm cutting it down. While it's off I'm also changing the box frame on the bonnet underside to match the 365 accurately. The eagle eye'd will see the masking tape at the screen pillar base, showing where I'm cutting/remodeling it. I'm also making up a stainless trim to finish the windscreen base. (again something the car's missing). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

nice, did you restore the seats ? or get them recovered?, i've been looking at a few leather repair sites that also offer kits.
Seats are original and as new, from what I can retrace my 400 got new carpets and liner somewhere in the eighties in Switzerland where this 400 was upgraded with a new paintjob and loads of new parts. After is was sold to a dutch collector in the nineties it has been in museums basically the last 2 decades.
Roger! But I must admit that I own it 2 years already. The guy that bought it from the collector ruined the engine before he had the chance to register it at the dutch DMV. I have restored the engine to a as new condition. You can find more of the rebuild on my youtube channel.
thought i'd bring this thread back up just for all the great photos! my 5 speed after a bit of polish, especially on the rear exhausts which at least resemble stainless steel now. She's about to go into hibernation as i attempt to restore the interior very soon.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks remarkably similar to this.... blu medio - what colour is yours Rob? I see I have failed to announce the arrival of the latest family addition, 22589, a 400GT with the fabulous Weber chorus, Celeste Gainsborough is the colour. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes Wayne, mine is blue medio. Is that your car in the bottom pic. I thought gainsborough was light blue, that looks like blue scurro?
I am recently bought this 365 with a view to a gentle restoration - however I can't find a colour code anywhere, and although I've studied colour references online, I can't work out what shade it is? I can't see any evidence of a colour change, although obviously it has had paintwork in the past; it's been off the road since '97 and garaged since '86 so the body is quite decent. These pictures are 'as collected', and if it's not clear, the colour is a dark metallic green. Any help greatly appreciated! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Howard Register the car with the official Ferrari's owner's site and they will tell you what the original color was. Aidan
Anyone know if the Ferrari Owners site data be trusted? I did register and was kind of surpriced, as my prevoiusly Blu Ribot now Rosso Corsa 400 says "Bruno Acajou" -and my Rosso Chiaro 308GTB says Marrone, Yes the 400 is repainted by previous owner, but the 308 paint looks like very original. Would be cool if it was -the 400 will look real good if Bruno Acajou is the brownish-copper color I think it is, and the 308 is also stunning in Marrone. Have contacted Ferrari through my local F-Dealer to verify -but still awaiting response. Harald
Dinopaul, I also thought this might be a possible - but all the pictures I've looked at show it to be quite a bit lighter than my car, although I don't mind as it's a nice shade! Currently the car really looks dark - more like a traditional British Racing Green (albeit metallic) and where I've taken lamps out etc for proposed repaint there is no apparent evidence of a previous colour, although it's obviously been refinished before. More homework required I think! Howard.
Just in case anybody is interested, I've discovered that my erstwhile dark metallic green 365 was originally Marrone Colorado! When I removed the headlamps I noticed the inside of the pods was a brown shade which I thought may be primer, but having made enquiries of Ferrari UK I am informed of it's true colour - so the 'primer' must be the basecoat or similar. The burning question is - should I return it to it's original shade? I like originality, but I can only find two pictures of Colorado and both are different. Hmmm... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are pictures of #17489 and #35097 (Ex-Petersen Museum, For Sale in France) If you want more pictures you can contact Thomas Quintin (complete name and F-Chat nickname although). He owns #17489. Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Paul Interesting - I think your pictures show my dilemma (and thanks for posting the pics of course!) - #17489 looks much darker than #35097? I think I like the darker shade more, and my car is closer in age to the early car so maybe that's a good solution! Howard
Depends on the light outdoor, sun or not, kind of camera...most of these paints look different with the luminosity.
High time i show my 412 in this thread. Manual 412 in Blue Chiaro and beige Car was delivered new to Germany and I bought the car from the second owner in 1999. Car is complete with all paperwork, tools, manuals, etc. Modifications are: Alarm system, 16 inch TestaRossa rims and matching tires (245/55/ZR16) (TRX in storage) and Alpine sound system with navigation system (hidden the CD and DVD unit out of sight). Future plans are: fix the leather which has come loose on top of the dashboard. Maybe fix the extra key hole on the driver door (from 80's alarm system (Bosch) although it is period. After 5 year search i found the BBR 1:43 model in the correct color combination. Next year i will find a nice location to make better pictures. Best of Both Worlds: 412 - Comfortable long distance driving. Mafia car of the 80s. CS Exciting track car experience. Scaled down version of god. Its amazing how I get the same adrenaline rush from both even though the 412 and CS are totally different and serve completely different purposes. Im like most people in that life is always busy and full of pressure. Luckily, I have weekend drives, seasonal Challenge and Historic races to go watch, car blogs with the latest news each morning and workshop manuals to read before bed. Plus, I have Ferrarichat to interact with people who share the same passion. Possibly, its important to just to have the feeling that Ferrari is a part of your life. That way, you get constant enjoyment. Christensen Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Christensen, Inresting you post directly after me. My 412 shares the garage with a 360 Spider. Although different than a CS I share the same passions about them. In my case they are both blue. I only wish highway 1 and 86 where at my backdoor. Peter
