They love to sell barnfinds just as found, hay on the seats and all.
I peruse their site regularly. They have had some really trashed Rolls Royces and Bentleys (like a Phantom V that must have been parked outside for decades). Some of their prices seem pretty reasonable but I don't know if any of the cars are vouched for mechanically. I live on the West Coast now and know how bad cars can be on the East Coast (held together by congealed rust?) They on occasion have Ferraris. They have a means of inspecting their inventory visually on the net once you get to their website. Has anyone in FerrariChat.com forum dealt with them? Were they honest about the cars? Of course on the real beaters, you have to assume the car needs everything, this is the end of the line for some collector cars, just before being bundled and melted for scrap.
The store is mis-named, I don't think they hardly ever have a gullwing for sale but maybe that was the first car they fell in love with. They buy a lot of cars by advertising for cars wanted all over Hemmings Motor News.

Here's the contact info but I'll wait to see what readers say who have dealt with them before I pop in with a fistfull of dollars.

I drop by there all the time. It is located in a semi industrial/warehouse area. My friend is a lighting distributor and I own an electrical contracting outfit, which explains why I'm down there so often. Anyways, I have seen some decent cars there, some survivors, and some that are waiting to die. The owner is very easy to talk to and always courteous. The mechanic on hand is immensely knowledgeable and an enthusiast of sorts. For the most part, they just get the cars running and ready to be sold... that's it. They on occasion have a stray Lamborghini, interesting Ferrari, or Maserati so I drop by to take a look. If there is anything that you would like for me to take a look at for you let me know. I have been tempted by a few cars although, could never pull the trigger.

Ironic you should mention it as there is a red 1956 gullwing for sale on their site today. Asking $695k. Also seven Ferraris listed.

Strange place to be selling a car of that caliber, assuming the price is justified by the condition.

No personal experience with The Gullwing Store but, from what I have seen and heard about them, they would not be the best place to sell a top condition high value classic such as a 1956 300SL Gullwing because their pitch seems to be targeting a bargain hunting clientele that doesn't necessarily understand how to evaluate a car's condition or estimate the true costs of restoration.

If I were a potential buyer of a top dollar 300SL Gullwing, I would be very cautious about any one offered by The Gullwing Store. It could be a good car or maybe not but it just doesn't fit.
