1997 F355B with 11,000km on it. Runs great, steady, flawless. Noticed this summer that when driving, say in 4th gear around 4,000rpm, the oil temp will climb from 100oC to 120oC in a matter of 3-5minutes. It will not go any higher than that, no matter how hard I drive. It will eventually come back down to 100oC after driving at good speed in 6th gear. It feels to me like the cooling capacity isn't what it should be!?!?

    I was wondering:

    1. Is this normal for "moderate to high rpm driving"?
    2. Could my gauge be out a bit...reading slighly high?

    Thanks for your comments/feedback fellas

    Brian,
I have a 1997 355 spider, and my oil temp rarely goes above 100C, and when it does, no more than 110C and comes right back down to 100C pretty quickly. What you are experiencing could very well be within the limits of tolerance. I would not worry about it.

You might do a quick check of your oil cooler, and make sure there is nothing blocking it. If possible, a strong stream from a garden hose would be a good idea, from back to front of the oil cooler to make sure there is not a bunch of dirt or debris blocking air flow.
