Agree completely. Don't use them for anything you spend a lots of time gazing at.

Well I had armoufend put on my 355. Firstly, its expensive. Parts and fitting came to £380 for front bumper and fron strip.

Secondly, you can see it plainly closeup.

It does stop the majority of chips BUT when a stone does penetrate- what a mess!! it looks awful. I would not have it done again, better paint the thing!

    I agree with you 100pc

I had armourfend do my 355 and I regret it now.

Its very expensive and for that price you can repaint the bumper twice over.

It does stop some of the chips but when the film is penetrated it looks AWFUL. Plus on my car I had some 'silvering' of the film. Armoufend told me this was quite common and not to worry.!!

    Izza mate,

you're in the comapny of hard men here .. not a word of commisserations about your injured 360. Anyway, I sympathize, i know your pain. Hope, you get it done soon .. Or maybe leave it as it is until we come back from Le Mans as you'll probably need another one then anyway.

    Cheers
    Philip

By that I meant, watch what you drive behind and distances between you and other vehicles, etc. This could be just me, but I've found that certain roads cause stone chips a lot more than others. For example, the M1 and the A406, probably because they are so filthy and have more lorries on them. Using the M1 for 6 months vs M40 resulted in lots of chips vs no chips at all.

Watch what you drive behind? Nah - that'll never work for Wazza - you know he races Formula V, right? ;)

I had thought about this stuff as being a good solution
but the guys at the garage warned me off saying that when you
came to take it off it pulled half your paint of at the same time.

In which case you need a respray anyway.

    Izza and Phillip,

What is Mr. G. like, eh? He goes on a trip to Le Mans in his 360 Spider, and can't even choose a parking-space at the hotel correctly, without getting his car mashed by a local shopper.....

....as if this has anything to do with stonechips! You can't get a bloomin' stone chip if you drive around France at fifty in first with the hand-brake on matey!

BTW, what's that Northern Nutter doing about arranging Le Mans 2004? Are we booking crossings, etc. soon?

    ta.
