Need to part with my 84 BBI. What is the group advice for best sale venue? Auction, Ebay, Dealer?? 7500 mi original with new TRX and major service. 49 state car with tools, red/black.
Take lots of good pictures. Sit down a do a thorough write up of everything you can think of including warts. Ebay is the best exposure, period. You may not sell it on Ebay but you will most likely find a buyer through Ebay. Make sure to include something about the documentation, who did the major etc. The hardest thing is setting a price. It might be worth a mint to you, but you need to look at what the comps have sold for.......or not sold for. Most serious buyers have alerts set up that send emails when 'X' pops up on Ebay. Dont worry about the auction ending before money changes hands. By the time a deposit is received, posted to your account and a good PPI is done, the auction is over.....which is a good thing because you want have to give Ebay anything more than the listing fees.
I would never put it on ebay. that is no way to sell this car for its proper value. it is just for bottom feeders. the boxer has become an investor grade Ferrari. speak to the best brokers or even consign at a respected dealership.
flea bay and it's protectionist systems for the buyer are not consistent with a company I want to do business with. Mike Sheehan might be a good person to speak with. He's connected to that grade of market.
If you are willing to invest some money Canepa will work with you to get your Boxer in concourse condition. You will get top dollar for your car but will have to share some of the profits with them. Copley in Massachusetts sells lots of Ferraris for top dollar. I have had good experiences with them. Maybe some other members can share their views on these two companies.
if i was to sell my boxer, first I'd let the folks know on this site and see how that goes. I'd check with my service shop as well. I don't think ebay would be good either. too high priced...and special limited market. I'd be very careful who come over to look at it...either meet someone or have a dealer/shop do it. as for pricing there are 9 BBis currently listed on Hemmings...you should compare to see how they compare to yours. Btw, there are a lot of Boxer on the market now because prices have tripled over the past 2-3 years. So high selling price but more sellers...Good Luck.
