Just wondering if any of you got bonuses from 2005? Was 2005 a good year? As an aside, how many years did you work for a/your company before you got your first bonus? People these days sure seem to expect them soon. Wes
yeah, how bout that! someone has to pay you to do something (because you obviously wouldn't do it if you didn't have to) and then tells you when you're allowed to do it for them....!!!! go figger..??
Ill come talk to your company. In my field of work, if you ask for a raise they tell you to work harder and generate more business. Are you folks under the impression that ALL occupations receive bonuses?? Just found it an interesting post.
It's just that some people think they're paid to show up, and if they actually benefit the company then there should be a bonus of some sort. Well, what were they paid for?
i got a $50 bonus....where is my spot on the poll? lol...0-25K is a large spectrum. lol and for the people that got bonuses over a million dollars...why didnt you retire? lol
I checked the first one...not sure of the monetary value of the 'Jelly of the Month Club' membership.
I once got a turkey from Publix ($20). I gave it back telling the owner he probably should save it for a rainy day. I also got no bonus the first year out of college since you had to be at the company 6 months to get one. I started on June 25, but the bonus was given out December 22, so I miised it by three days. The next year the main office allowed our partner to divide a total of $50k between all the employees in our office. It went like this: Partner - $48k other 32 employees - anywhere from $50 (me) to $200 (office manager) Now, being self-employed there is no official bonus, but I occasionally drive the 348 I gave myself as a bonus in February last year. BT
That is TOO funny! I want to thank everyone who voted in the pole. (69 so far) I find the stratification interesting. There's the top, the bottom, and ONLY right in the middle. Wonder what that says....
Is that $3,000,000 US DOLLARS?? OOPS, I thought it was Italian Lire, which works out to about $1950.00 My bad. DM
Many years back I took a branch manager position at a small start-up (1 branch) who had never exceeded $250,000 gross during their first 3 years in business. During my first 9 months we had generated $900,000 gross (exceeded all previous profit margins and quadrupled billable staff). My bonus was less than $250 after taxes - I gave the owner his check back telling him if this is all he could afford out of $100,000+ net profit he needed it more than I did. I resigned the following business day.
You were probably pretty stupid for giving the check back. I bet your boss probably borrowed money to keep paying you, the lights, etc. to get sales to to the $100K in profit level. You may have thought it was him being tight, he may have gone without even a $250 bonus after paying many bills in the business you never even have thought about!
PeterS - He went from renting an apartment in Huntingon Beach when I came on board to purchasing a 5 bedroom/3.5 bath home in San Clemente when I left (I was the fool back then) Darth550 you are correct - I understand now that he enjoys speed which has nothing to do with cars, planes, or boats and spends a fair amount of time at strip clubs (Currently he is back to renting an apartment and now has unwanted business partners)
Several years ago a friend of mine got a bonus. During a company PR stint, he was asked how was he going to go about spending this wonderful windfall. We all read it in the compnay news letter: "Number three, but super-sized".
