I think I am the 4th owner of my 77 GTB and am tying to find the original owner. Is there a place maybe FNA that can trace the SN back to the dealer so I can get the 1st few years history. Has anyone done this? Unfortunately Car search type of web sites are limited to the 17 digit SN so you can't get any info. I talked to the 2nd owner and he didn't have any info because he bought the car through a broker who is no longer around. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

How far back do you know now?

This is a LONG shot but I know of a yellow/black 77 GTB that eventually made it's way to NY.

I have traced the ownership of every car I have ever owned and have had almost 100 percent success. The best way to do it is to contact your DMV in your state they will usually give the info to you back to where it came into that state. Then you call or write to the next state back in the chain and so on untill you reach the MSO in the state that originated the first title. Your state will have a copy of the title that was being used to transferred to your state. Every state has there own time limits on how far back their records go the older the car the less chances are they still have records. I traced my '77 GTB back to Alberta Can. but that was about 10 years ago. Hope this helps Good luck.
