I can't seem to find a single 360 Modena F1 that needs a service/clutch/belts/brakes/tires/minor paint work/etc. All the cars seem to be freshened up and put for sale. I searched autotrader/ebay/etc. I know sellers wont jump out and say, "My tires are whipped/needs belts/clucth/etc". I also understand it makes financial sense to do the work and then advertise it for sale. You can get more money in the long run that way. My goal is to find a good car as affordable as possible. I also want something that needs work, as I work on all my own cars. I actually am already familiar with maintaining and servicing 360's. If anyone has a lead on what I'm looking for, I'd appreciate it. Even if you're selling your personal 360 that needs work, (the more work it needs the better), I'd be SUPER interested. Thanks for reading.

    John,

Most guys want to make sure there isn't a big negative about the car they're trying to sell.

Since service history and condition are #1 on everyone's list, getting a couple grand worth of work done makes the car easier to sell.

Having said that, I'm sure not all cars have had the service folks will tell you they've had, and I'd want to see the service records for sure.

Still, I'd bet there are plenty of under serviced 360's out there. Buy one at auction, then you'll know what a neglected 360 is like.

Because it's a buyers market -- just like Real Estate now. Any possible negatives are simply rejected in favor of the nicer or better deal available.

John, I picked this up from a friend. I was 30 mins from getting a 05 blk/blk 6spd gallardo on a Friday because he didn't really want to sell the 360. I really wanted the 360 because of the body lines and to have the whole Ferrari experience. Plus which ever one I picked up was going to get turbos.

3X,XXX miles but serviced and running/driving AWESOME. 6spd/Blk/Blk I got a great deal on it.

Turbo's on the way for it.. Should be all done and boosting by spring.

Interesting take. I am finding the opposite. Most of them are not serviced and those that are supposed to have been serviced were done poorly.

If done right, it's another indication of the car being of good quality. If there are two 360s, otherwise identical, but one freshly serviced with new cam belts done by a reputable shop with records of all that was done, and let's say that cost was $2500, that car's going to sell over the other one even if the price differential was $2500 or greater. Why? Because a PPI can only reveal so much, and it's still not as good as a PPI PLUS some reputable shop having recently taken apart and put back together the cam belts, tensioners, etc. so you know all is good in there. If it's not recently been done, then that's one less data point, and if it's not been done for >3 yrs., it may be an indication of the owner's attitude towards service as well (unless there are records that show otherwise).

Spent the last 6 months trying to find the right 360 before we got the "one". Almost everyone we found needed a belt, clutch, some service, etc. Alot of owners don't really seem to know what the car needs.

I bought mine needing a belt service and that was factored into the price. Took it to Andy Falbo at FMS in Scottsdale, who did a fantastic job with the belt service, plus a full fluids. (At about half the price of a dealer service dept.) I was actually glad to get it needing the services (and priced accordingly), as it allowed me to monitor all the needed services, even watch them being done, see all parts and fluids used, and have the peace of mind they were done right.

Car has run fantastic and purrs like a kitten in the 14 months and 2.5k miles since the service.

I'd say the Capristo Beast and your car are top 2 for 360's...
If I recall what he said he'd sell it for, you got a REALLY great deal...

Besides the oil and fluid changes on the 360, the 360 cam belts are easier to replace than the cam belts in the 348/355. :):)

Probably why they replace them and are selling them fully serviced. Buyers market too and all that. :):)

There are plenty of 348's and 355's for sale that need major services. Pulling the engine out to replace cam belts is A LOT more work than pulling out the 2 seats in a 360 to access the cam belts. :p:p

Very true Pap. I have done older F car engine out services too. Not cheap or fun...

Does your car have the bolt in roll cage and some of the challenge series modifications?

Very nice car! I am just doing some research myself on doing a TT conversion to my 360. Could you offer any advice on where to source the parts and/or completed kit from? Was hoping someone made a bolt-on kit for the 360.

I am finishing up my turbo setup now. I will be tuning it when I get back from LA next week. I suppose I could post the full build up also :)

Twin 58's, air to water exchanger, engine management, whole nine yards. Headers are being made now as the later 360's have precats and I doubt that the aftermarket headers currently available would be good for the added stresses of going turbocharged.

Nothing against the 360, but it really needs about another 300hp :) Took me about 2 days to start design and planning the forced induction setup after buying the car. I've owned it for a month now :)

I agree. When I was searching for my 360, all the ones I looked at claimed to be "fully serviced". This usually meant they had recently received an oil change. Almost all of them needed a belt service.

Like with the OP, I was willing to perform needed services and did not expect a pristine 6 year-old car. Still, it was surprising how many of them had significant deferred maintenance. This was an indication to me that the owners wanted to sell (dump?) them before they had to pay for a "major" service.

Lol, really needs another 300HP? :p:p

There wouldnt be too many people around that can use it to its full potential on the track, let alone on the street when in stock form. :p:p

Adding 300HP extra will be NUTS!! Good luck you mad scientist. :D:D
