It seems like people consider the F40 to be much better than the F50. How come the F50 gets no love, it's like it's a forgotten supercar...?

i own neither but from my buest estiamtes teh f40 seems to be a more raw automobile which is favored by many....however it may be due to the fact that an f-50's presence doesnt have to be stated, it can be felt

Because it looks like a '70 Pontiac Trans Am!?!?!?!?

All it needs is a chicken decal on the hood!

My mom only had two things to say when she recently viewed my 1/18 collection.

    1. How long before you own one big enough you can drive it? (I told her that if things go well with my new business 5-10 years... after the house is paid off)

    2. That one looks really nice (as she pointed out the f-50), how much would it cost me to buy one of those? I could see myself driving that.

So at least my mom likes it.

I'll go on record as liking the F50 more than the F40. <gasp>

Driving a turbo car is fun, but I much prefer high strung normally aspirated engines with very linear power delivery. I've never had a problem with the styling of the F50 either, in fact I happen to like it a lot.

I am a child of the '70's, so I grew up with the F40 on my notebook and my bedroom wall, but have preferred the F50 since it was introduced. I like it considerably more than the Enzo too.

F50 is my favorite Ferrari. I would say outright that the McLaren F1 is my favorite car, but...everytime I see the Best Motoring MS Racing F50, I can't decide. I think the black wheels on the F50 make it look amazing and the sound is better than the F1 imo.

I will say that I got to see an F50 in person for the first time last summer, and it’s an attractive car. Much better in person then in photos, but its just lacking that aggressiveness presence of the F40.

I love the car, but your right, it seems like the outcast of the F40-F50-and Enzo collection.

The F50 gets enough love from me, and doesn't need it from anyone else. hehe.

    Best looking/sounding Ferrari imo.

I think the main reason the F50 was not as loved was because it didnt offer any superior performance numbers as compared to the F40.

Top speed was just over 200 mph, unlike the enzo which was 220, and much further ahead in performance.

    Just my $0.02

I still do like the F50 more though, just personal preferance.

F 50 is very nice driver with the exception of the fact that you have to yell at the guy next to you because the interior noise level is so high. The CF tub is like a great big speaker resonating all the noise from the rigid mounted drive train through the car.

Also the fact that it looks like it came from Tune Town and Roger Rabbit should be driving doesn't help much.

Torque like a tractor, revs like a turbine and has no lag. Gear box was the best by far up to the time it was built.

Because its really ugly. Ferrari took the same ugly nose design even further with the Enzo which is ugly as well and will be unloved. The F40 is beautiful and stunning and has performance to match.

Any car can be made to go fast so performance is not important as looks that define automobile 3D art.

i saw both the F50 and F40 at crystal cove less than a 100ft from eachother. i looked them both over alot. the F50 is such a better looking car than the F40. the sound of it starting up and reving is one of the greatest sounds i have ever herd. a really close secound to the sound of Stefan Eriksson's black enzo.

How is the F40 anymore raw than the F50? Just because it doesn't have door panels?

I think the F50 trumps the F40 on every level.

I actually like the f50 most out of the 3. F40 second and the enzo last. this is purely based on looks.
Fell in love with the F50 after seeing it in the Macau Grand Prix '95 in the supercar cup.

I'm glad people like the F40 and Enzo better, for the same reason I like homosexual men.

More gay guys = more women left for me.
More F40s and Enzos taken = more F50s left for me.

And come on ... you say its ugly but don't tell me you wouldn't hop in if I pulled up to your door in one.

Personally the F50 is the best sounding car out there, followed by the Carrera GT.
Looks are just the opposite, CGT is best, with F50 a close second.

Not that I'm biased or anything, but... :)

Take a 355, add turbos, wing and big fender flares, you have an F40.

The F50 however, is the most stunningly beautiful car ever made. If there ever was a car designed around a naked supermodel, this was it. Turbos and superchargers don't impress me. If your engine has them, the designers could have done better. This is why Porsche has never impressed me (Just got off the Porsche vs. F430 thread, ha ha). High HP N/A impresses me. You have to do your homework. The sound of an F50 going through the gears makes my Modena sound like a Yugo. And it's a stick shift!

The Enzo looks too much like an F40 to me.

You have to be careful what you say these days - lol :D :p

    = = = = = =

Anyway, how could someone not think this looks fantastic? Personally I prefer the looks of the F50 with the roof fixed, but I do like the fact that it can function as an open topped car when the weather and the mood permits.

I wish some of the F50 owners would "forget' a little more and sell me one for the price of an F40!

The F50 is more "raw" than the F40 from a driver's standpoint. On a limb here but it's probably Ferrari's closest modern attempt of an F1 car for the road. Too bad the F50GT never raced, I'd love to see some video of it in action.

Those people who claim the F50 is ugly clearly have never seen one in black. I need new pants just thinking about one.

i think the f50 is one of the best looking supercars made!
the front of the enzo ruins it's otherwise beautiful appearance.
i don't understand the lack of respect for the f50 either?
i think their resale value holds up though?
how does the f40 and f50 compare resale wise vs. their original retail?
i know of a low mileage red f50 that sold for 650k a few months ago!
