How deep do the head studs seat in a 308?

    How far below the deck surface do they screw in?

    Based on my service manual drawing, they look to be about 3.2" deep, does that sound right?

    Approximation is fine, +/- 1/8"

    On a QV 90mm on 18 of them 45mm on 2 of them.

    Reason I asked was a knowledgeable motor rebuilder I talked to about bore distortion said deep stud motors created a fair amount of distortion deep in the bore.

    This correlates with the info Verell reposted yesterday, which Luckydynes measured some time ago. And it makes sense. Probably why Ferrari put the studs so deep, as distortion down there isn't nearly as important as distortion up top
