Fantastic car. With the price of the F50 being 500k+ I would deffinetly chose a Carrera GT over it any day.

Id never think you would put the SLR against the CGT, To me they are totally different cars. Very nice video though, I always love the wit of the top gear show. Does anyone have the video of when they ran the SLR? I have the one where one host drove it in Brazil i believe but not the road test and track run. Anyone have a link to that episode?

Does anyone know who "The Stig" is? and is there any meaning to "Stig" or is it just a funny name?

Have these guy done an Enzo review yet ? Because if they have......the fact that the Enzo didn't even merit a one word mention in this video speaks volumes about their opinion of the two cars as being comparable. I am not knocking the Enzo either.....just making an observation about two cars I cannot afford.

Thanks for posting this....great video !!

You said you wouldn't spend that much unless it was a Ferrari. Porsche isn't the only car company in that market range.

Thought I saw one last year where Clarkson preferred the Enzo over the C-GT, but then he's a self-confessed Ferrari Addict, vs his early days when he hated them (without driving one I think). I recall the Enzo was very slightly faster than the C-GT on their test "track". irrelevant imo.

3% buffering complete.... It'll be a long night for this vid!

an automobile enthusiat???someone who doesnt like carrera gt is NOT a car enthusiat!!! i have owned two ferraris, a 355spider and 360 spider and my brother has a 512tr, but i can tell you that porsche makes a great sports cars and the carrera gt is the most amazing car i have ever driven and stock it has a better exhaust note than any current ferrari.....if it drops under 275-300k, it will too good a deal to pass up..this attitude that if its not ferrari is nots a great sports car just annoys me .....anyone who has that attitude is not a car enthusiat, but a blind ferrari lover...and blindness is not a good thing.....

I'm a ferrari bigot and I'd still take it. Ferrari doesn't produce a car with that performance for anwhere close to the same price. Since the Enzo is outta reach I think the CGT would be a good alternative choice.

Early speculation lead some to believe that it may be Tiff Needell due to the Stig's driving style, but later ruled out as he was on a rival (Fifth Gear) show. The original Stig who we now know as Perry McCarthy came out with a book documenting his life as the "Stig." The current "Stig" is purported to be racing driver Ben Collins.

As far as what Stig means, it may be an acronym or just British humor that we yanks don't, and probably never will, understand.

There is nothing wrong with only wanting one marque, no matter what. I don't know why "blind" brand loyalty bothers so many people so much, or why they feel the need always to point it out in a kind of self-justification.

If someone really loved the Ford Taurus and owned 20, so what? I have a friend who loves all cars but loves Porsche the best. He likes Ferraris but will never own one. Is he a "car bigot" and a "poser?"

There is nothing wrong with loving a marque or even a model to the exclusion of all else. And, contrary to what you might hear, there is nothing wrong with "rosso corsa" or, for that matter, "GT Silver" goggles.

I thought it might have been Tiff. Wasn’t there an episode where they said the first stig died in a crash? Why in the world would Tiff leave Top gear, especially to join the rival show 5th gear?!?

Heres a link to some interesting market take on the gt situation and pricing. Might not be that long before it hits those numbers. Unfortunately, it will still be out of my reach!!
When they first came out a friend held up his cell at Thunderhill on the straight when one was going by and even over the crappy cell lines the sound was unbelievable.

It may have been a clash of ideas, personalities, more pay, opportunity to be "the host", etc. To me he is more entertaning as a host/driver with his feedback and critiques as you can tell from his experience in F1, LeMans, and BTCC. He completely understands how to put a car through its paces and dissects everything with verve of a true professional driver and enthusiast.
