    Hi guys,

How do I launch an F430, F1 transmission, no launch control button?

    1. Put the car in first and floor it?
    2. Put the car in neutral, rev the engine, then switch to first, i.e, dump the clutch, like launching a regular stick shift?
    3. Something else?

Also, should I expect wheel spin in first gear around 5,000 - 8,000 rpm? I'm okay with spin at low speed/revs, but I'm a little worried about it at higher revs where I guess I would be going around 30 mph. Should wheel spin in second gear be expected?

I'm assuming a dry road. Also this is a two part question: Part A for race mode, and Part B for traction control completely off.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Best backroad 0-60 time I got was 4.3 seconds. That was starting with a light roll then punching it. I noticed that when I punch it from a dead stop it sort of chokes, then takes off. Not sure if N-rev-drop to 1st will do it, but I wouldn't. I try to conserve the clutch, any weird stuff reportedly eats them up quickly. I've never been able to light the tires on this car (in normal conditions), it's not just made for that type of stuff. Haven't tried turning off everything though.

Leave it alone before you tear the clutch and flywheel to bits.

Doing this will destroy the driveline in a short time.

Okay, you guys are saying some concrete stuff now, which I appreciate.

But here's a point of confusion for me. The non-U.S.A. F430s literally have a launch control button! Why would Ferrari have such a feature, if it would destroy the drivetrain/clutch after three, five or even 20 uses?

Do the non-U.S.A. models have a beefed up drivetrain/clutch to handle launch control? I guess no. I guess that launch control is just software that lets you brainlessly floor it, while the computer controls throttle and clutch position for a good launch, but the drivetrain/clutch and other "hardware" are exactly the same as the regular model.

    What am I missing here?

    It's called marketing.

The gearing and weight distribution on these cars (both 360 and 430) make burnouts incredibly damaging and stressful on the entire driveline. The clutch, being an old fashioned dry plate, will get extremely hot and could warp the flywheel or just burn down 10,000 miles worth in a single second. Do that three times and you might need a new clutch. So figure about $2500 each time you do something stupid with the car. You might not care. To me, the insult and disrespect to the car is simply not worth it.

Get the car just rolling and floor it. You will get 99% of the thrill without 99% of the damage. The dash will light up when you break traction and the nannys kick in. Turn them off and you will go sideways. Yeha!!

I have an m5 e60 also, I used launch control couple times, didnt really find it worked that well. The e60 has single clutch like ferrari.
Now a trick i learnt (havent tried on f430 cause i really want to preserve the clutch), is that if you are in gear, simply floor it instantly and the car will rev slightly and basically dump the clutch and launch off tires spinning, i think this is actually better for clutch life as it doesnt slip the clutch to try and maximize acceleration.

Now is anyone game to do this on f430? LOL just foot to floor in 1st gear from standstill

The 430 is a dog from 0. Roll it to about 30 then drop it. Shift at 8400 all the way up and love it.

To experience LC and launches that'll make a supercar cry you need the Dodge Demon.
Keep the F car in the garage. It's not meant for that.
Or take her to dinner instead

    Around the 3 min mark
