My shifter squeaks going from 3rd to 4th. The noise comes from inside the shift gate. The manual says nothing about lubrication for the shifter. Should I just dribble some oil in the shift gate?

Do not - I repeat, do not - attempt to pull off the plastic spherical bushing on the bottom of the shifter shaft...

I dumped a drink into mine, it got sticky.

I followed that with a dash of Royal Purple 20 -50W, problem solved....

To take the shifter apart and grease it you will need to remove the #4 screws that secure the center divide console to the floor, and lift it up so you can reach the bolts securing the shifter box to the floor. There are four screws for the main console and four for the forwaard piece, which overlaps slightly. Be careful when you lift it up so you don't damage the metal capillary tube that runs from the A/C control to the evaporator.

While you're there is a good time to consider replacing the SilentBloc that connects the shifter to the shift rod if it's at all loose. Verell's delrin shifter bushings are nice (Unobtainium Supply). There's another silentbloc connecting the shift rod to the transmission shifter shaft which is more likely to be loose, due to exposure to oil, etc.
